Not Newt, Rick

The guy who apologized for criticizing Paul Ryan's Entitlement Reform Plan as right-wing social engineering is now heavily supporting Medicare in the Sunshine State, which is home for many seniors.

Voters across the country who wonder about Newt's questionable past have received replies from Newt and his supporters to look past those negatives since they have already been repented for, apologized for, or flipped on. Focus should therefore be given only to his current conservative talk and the cherry-picked positive aspects of his past.

This is a reasoned logical explanation of why Rick Santorm should represent the conservatives choice.

Agreed, but the comments to follow will not be reasoned or logical. :-)

Michelle Malkin also had a nice endorsement of Santorum today.

I’d much prefer Rick but if they shove Romney down our tbroats in FL, will we have any choice?

Well since you can’t even spell his last name, I guess that shows your level of commitment to him.

SANTORUM needs to drop out of the race. He is getting nowhere and insuring that the liberal RINO, Romney, is winning.

What does that say about SANTORUM?

“This is a reasoned logical explanation of why Rick Santorm should represent the conservatives choice.”

I agree that Santorum is the best choice in this field.

However, Newt would be a thousand times better than the current dimwit occupying the White House!

I fervently hope one or the other beats Mitt 0bamney!

At this point, the only thing Rick is doing is helping Romney by splitting the conservative vote.

Santorum is my line in the sand Candidate. He ain’t perfect but I don’t have to sell out on every ideal I hold to vote for him.

On balance there isn’t really anything majorly wrong with Santorum, I think most just realize we need a scrapper in this fight, not a nice guy. Newt has some key successes he can point to like the Contract with America, the balanced budget, and welfare reform so going into the debate, he can show measurable results versus just beliefs.

Still, I wouldn’t have a problem with Santorum, I just think he would be eaten alive in the general.

The more I see of the candidates, the more my support for Santorum is solidified.

I think Santorum would be a much better candidate in the general than Newt. More conservative, less baggage.

I remember Rick taking it to Romney pretty well. I believe he can do an even better job with Obama. But that's me.

Rick had his chance in SC and FL. He failed to win the majority of the conservative vote. If he stays in the race, it’s almost guaranteed that Romney wins the nomination. If he gets out of the race, it’s almost guaranteed that Newt wins the nomination. It’s literally up to him to decide who our next President is. He should get full credit or full blame for whatever choice he makes.

A vote for Santorum is a vote for Romney.

If we get stuck with Romney, it will be a gift from Santorum.

Why not? Granted others have narrowed our choices by driving anyone we backed right out of the race but that doesn't mean we have to give up.

Rick was head and shoulders the best debater in the last election. To be honest he seems far more knowledgeable in almost every area (especially foreign policy) and he's not backing down. If Newt proves to be damaged goods I say we rally around Rick. He's the only one who has made Mitt break a sweat in all these debates.

It's only hopeless if we surrender.
