Drudge versus history
Legal Insurrection ^ | 1/26/2012 | William A. Jacobson

Posted on 01/26/2012 7:43:36 AM PST by vbmoneyspender

For several days Drudge has been running almost around-the-clock negative banners against Newt, hyping negatives and burying news which contradicts the Romney campaign narrative that Newt was anti-Reagan.

Against the anti-Newt crusade stands a wealth of counter-viewpoints of people who were in a position to know and who share very different recollections of Newt and Reagan, via Josh Painter in the comments:

Hopefully you won’t continue to be a Drudge stooge and you’ll go to the link and educate yourself.

Newt owes Drudge big time for turning the South Carolina primary from a nail-biter into a rout.

Drudge spends all his headlines fighting Newt, while the most important event of the day goes unnoticed.

IF Obama is thrown off the ballot in Georgia, the we have already won a great victory.

I don't trust ANY news person.
They all have an agenda.
It is up to US to dig deeper and get our news from diverse sources then try to make sense out of it.
It is NO different than it was, say 40 years ago, the difference today is, we have more places to get our news from. We have WAY TOO much information today. However I think that is better than TOO LITTLE information.

Impossible! Gaffer told me that any ideas some of might have about Drudge being anti-Newt is simply a figment of our imaginations.

Drudge is buddies (use your own definition) with Matt Rhoades, who is a Romney adviser.

The Newt quotes on Drudge are pretty damning... of course, the Mitt quotes from the same time are FAR worse....

What’s the Intrade on an Obama re-election these days? Our circular firing squad sharpshooters are pretty good... Of course, we have FAT targets to shoot at.

I am doing the same in about 1 minute. FR is where I get my news and has been my homepage for 10 years.

Bye, bye, Drudge.

I swear I keep encountering this Romney-mania in so many places and from so many people who I would have previously thought to be unlikely supporters of his, let alone zealots. I’m not talking about the usual establishment suspects. These are people and groups I have known and worked with in public policy and campaigns for almost two decades.

I really do think that there has been some kind of deep, quiet effort to buy off erstwhile conservatives in every corner of conservative and Republican circles, in every part of the country. I supect it started over a year ago and I suspect ridiculous amounts of money are being spent on this effort. I wish I could give some examples, but I don’t want to up-end any working relationships I have. But let me repeat that it is very, very strange to me just who is there for him and how intense their support is.

While I was at it I removed Google for:

“The World’s Most Private Search Engine”. They don’t register and cache your ISP. Better than Google.

Drudge has an interest to have the election go on as long as possible. Simple economics. Just as talk shows would enjoy Obama staying elected, it might hurt the country, but its easy money.

This election has everything to do with protecting a status quo that feeds the coffers of many insiders, including those who use the label ‘conservative’.

Whether it’s now or later down the road they realize there is great potential for their ox to be gored. Maybe even killed.

In the end, that’s what this is all about. This year holds the potential for great economic tumult added to what has already occurred. The status quo wants their bets covered on both sides of the ledger — republican and democrat.
