President Obama will use his election-year State of the Union address on Tuesday to define an activist role for government in promoting a prosperous and equitable society, hoping to draw a stark contrast between the parties in a time of deep economic uncertainty.
...Mr. Obama will call for changing the corporate and individual income-tax codes so the wealthy pay more, both to finance government investments and to alleviate the rise in income inequality in recent years.
Republican presidential candidates have countered that government should get out of the way.

Obama signals State of Union a campaign rallying cry

President Barack Obama, offering a first glimpse of next week’s State of the Union address, made clear Saturday that the speech will deliver a starkly partisan election-year call for a “return to American values.”
“I’m going to lay out a blueprint for an American economy that’s built to last,” Obama said in a campaign video sent to supporters. “And most importantly, a return to American values of fairness for all, and responsibility from all.”
... “fairness for all and responsibility from all” are code words for socialism.
If Boehner and the rest of the House leadersh has one pair of balls between the lot of ‘em there would be no State of the Union joint session scheduled until the Senate & House bothe passed a budget.
Will Joe be there?
Yay! I guess that means the 47% who are not paying any taxes now will have to start paying their fair share right?
That is the same crap he said at the last state of the union and the one before.
He just might do our work for us.
If he keeps this up, we could run my mutt and still win.
“fairness for all and responsibility from all” =
“from each according to his abilities to each according to his needs”
And none of this crap of sitting together........
Great timing!
Immediately following what appears to be a Gingrich win in SC and Florida vote looming large. Wwhere Newt can lambast Idi Obama with choice, wrong-headed parts of the SOTU speech and get more standing "O's" for doing so and thus take Florida.
Obamas’ State of the Union speech:
“Things really suck right now.”
Now, sit down.
The government spends $100,000 to give away $27,000 in welfare
Private charities could help 4 times as many people for that same $100,000
Good point. Privatization of welfare/charity managed at the local level would be cheaper and more effective.
However, the government, and particularly one party, will never surrender control of entitlements until they bankrupt us or send out thousand dollar notes that won’t fill a gas tank.
The inevitable failures our founding father’s understood.
Since when does the Communist Manifesto represent American values?
While he rakes in a billion dollars for a losing proposition for reelection.
****************
If they had any REAL stones, they would decree that teleprompters are hereby banned from the House chamber.
Let's see Obummer the Brilliant try to deliver his SOU from memory! Or from a printed page!
Seriously ... doesn't Boehner control what happens in HIS chamber? Couldn't he could do this?
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
Now I know how the average lefty would feel if Fred Phelps were elected President.
Idi Obama! LOL! That’s a good one and, unfortunately, true.
I’ve had it with this communist liar. 86% of the “rich” are self made. If the so-called “poor” would get off their dead asses and work, stop having babies when they’re single, and stop blaming the white man for their problems, they would have some economic success, too.
