Politics Bombshell Report: Gingrich News Will Be Accusation of ‘Open Marriage’ Posted on January 19, 2012 at 10:25am by Jonathon M. Seidl Print » Email » Comments (7) Brian Ross, ABC’s chief investigative reporter, told WMAL-RADIO’s “Morning Majority” program that the bombshell news set to be released by Marianne Gingrich is that her ex-husband wanted an “open marriage.”

“He came to her and said, ‘I want to stay married to you and still have an affair with Calista, his current wife,” said Ross. “According to Marianne, he said ‘You need to share me,‘ and she said ’I don’t want to share,’ and the marriage ended,” he added.

Frankly, I believe this same thing was covered in the 2010 Esquire magazine interview so I don't believe it's a bombshell. However, it is damaging.

To be honest, Newt doesn’t impress me as a stud and I don’t see why any woman would want him for sex, but it takes all kinds.

Wow, that’s a shocker (NOT)... allegations from a failed marriage?? I am sure it will play with some voters, but for me, this allegation doesn’t even make me raise an eyebrow.

If the roles were reversed would folks be more sympathetic to Newt over it? Probably not.

Digging into peoples marriages successful and failed is a minefield, and frankly unless you have some sort of allegation of physical abuse or something going on, I don’t want to know, and am not going to judge.

You are correct, these newt supporters raised hell about what Cain was accused of doing, here is newt trying to hit on every woman in washington dc and it is no big deal. How many complaints of sexual harassment has been swept under the rug about newt. Oh, wait the kings in congress exempted themselves from sexual harassment laws.

Looks like they are trying to pull a "Herman Cain" on Newt. But, the vote is not for "husband of the year", it's for the Presidency.

Even with this accusation - even if it's true - he's still better than "obama-lite" Romney.

Most ex-wives don't have flattering things to say about their ex-husbands. And, most men who have "affairs" are looking for something that is missing in their current marriage.

After clinton, and hillary's acceptance of his foibles, leaves little room for the democrats to say anything about anyone else.

Remember, the flak is always worse when you're right over the target, and the dems (and Romney) definitely don't want Newt to face obama...becase:

I think he was actually separated from her at this point (he was separated from her when he met Calista) and she evidently wanted to get back together while he did not. They eventually did reconcile, but then they separated again and then finally got divorced.

And yes, she is clearly still bitter about it.

Now we will get to see if the “old news” argument about Newts’ 747 full of baggage was a valid argument. Should be interesting.
