Exclusive: Hollywood Moguls Stopping Obama Donations Because Of Administration’s Piracy Stand
Deadline Hollywood ^ | 1/18/12 | Nikki Finke

EXCLUSIVE: Internet sites on their SOPAStrike may be conducting a blackout but Hollywood studios are conducting a boycott. I’ve learned that Hollywood studio chiefs individually and as a group are drawing a line in the sand on the piracy issue with the Obama re-election campaign and refusing to give any more donations. The blowup came after President Obama on Saturday dashed moguls’ hopes that he would remain on the sidelines in the dispute over the U.S. House Of Representatives’ Stop Online Piracy Act and the U.S. Senate’s Protect IP Act.

So.

Finally I understand why the media has been the Democrats’ lap dog.

It’s been right under my nose.

Wow, it turns out that Hollywood is run by businessmen who want to make a...gasp...profit! Who knew?

I think they should acquiesce to sharing the wealth...and content, as their movies keep insisting on.

This will be helpful, as Obama won’t have as much Hollywood money on this side.

Does this bill have more in it than just protecting against piracy? Other than that, which is understandable that they would want protection, but I thought there are plenty of laws against piracy already, how does it infringe on our freedoms? Can someone please explain to me it’s more far reaching effects and if it is so negative to our freedoms isn’t it the Republicans who are pushing the bill?

If their aim is to make a profit they're going about it the wrong way. When I paid $11 for a single ticket to see Tin Tin I decided that was the last time I'll see a movie in the theater - on principle alone.

No wonder they're losing money.

This bill gives the government unprecedented power to shut down websites and regulate the internet under the cloak of combatting piracy.

I think this is smokes and mirror. All the commies seem to reject that regulation, but, in reality, they probably are the writers of it. It’s a way of getting the web in their tentacles temporarily.

As for Hollywood and RIAA, I have always said these scumbags’ products are proselytizing homosexual filth cult messages. Why should we pay to be brainwashed like with the German socialist TV tax?

Hollywood thought if they bought off enough DC hacks they would get laws passed that would distort the internet just to suit their anti-piracy efforts. I was worried for a while but now it looks like HollyWeirdos won’t get it. These amoral sleazes can FOAD!

Say this legislation passed and Obama signs it (and I think he would, regardless of what he says).

Pretend you are a liberal who wants Free Republic shut down. Start posting links to copyrighted material or post copyrighted content to Free Republic (videos, pictures, etc.). Under this legislation, Free Republic and Jim Robinson are now considered to be responsible for enabling copyright infringement and FR could be shut down or blocked. It doesn't matter that you were the one that posted those links and that material, Jim Robinson will be held responsible. It would not be easy for Jim to get Free Republic back online either. The process is convoluted and designed to be difficult.

It's all too easy for liberals to shut down websites over this. Lamar Smith (makes me want to puke) claims that it wouldn't be abused or that far reaching. Think about that for a moment - a Republican telling us that it would never be abused even though we have a wannabe Marxist sitting in the White House.

Of course, what Lamar won't tell you is that over the last 10 years, Hollywood as a whole has been one of his top three donors every election. For 2012, Hollywood is is his biggest donor.

Obama doing the right thing for once and getting screwed for it? I don’t believe they’d really cut off the $$$$ but it would be hilarious.
