I have continually found vital information on public radio and television that at first was available nowhere else.

LOL No.

Sesame Street is a BRAND NAME now, and it is my opinion that businesses would be tripping over themselves to associate with name recognition. This report is simply idiotic. And, if the rest of the programming is worth any of its salt, advertising would come easily to them. Sink or swim, CATO.

So may issues with this disaster of an article . . .

Old School socialist is concerned about kids?
Barbara Streisand!

Aren’t kids tested BEFORE they register for school, every year? every semester? Kids can go to any clinic at anytime if there is a public health issue.

Nurses get cut first because they are not part of the TEACHER’S UNION. It is not a priority to keep any salary not contributing to the UNION.

I’m betting he won’t even make good on the promise to end obamacare. My fear is that he’ll try to “reform” it, like senator brown tried last year. Just add three or four thousand pages to the law and call it reform.

So the writer wants us to increase taxes so that PBS and NPR can continue to receive a subsidy?

While I agree with you about Romney, it must be remembered that the President cannot repeal anything. Only Congress can repeal PBS funding & Obamacare, plus many others. We MUST fill Congress with true conservatives in November, in addition to electing anybody but Obama & Romney.

I totally agree. I am not aware that he ever said he would repeal Obamacare. He has only said he would give the states exemptions. “The Divine One” will move towards the total ruin of the United States at the rate of 100 MPH. Romney, if elected, will move us toward ruination at the rate of 99.1 MPH.

Sesame Street is an advertisement in its entirety.

> Dogs and cats sleeping together happens in my house all the time. That should be the least of our worries. It’s really simple: follow the money.

Do the dogs have the money? The cats are mum about their finances.

I have only two cats (no dogs) in my house, and they don't sleep together, but they individually like to curl up with me. Does that mean I'm supposed to have money? I don't. (I do have the warm down comforter, however.)

I have a friend with a dog and four cats and no money. She says none of the cats sleep with the dog, but that two of the cats sleep with her. So perhaps those two know something no one else knows.

But back to your point, if I could find some money, I would take your advice and follow it.

:)

> The Democrats and Republicans are hopeful Obama won’t try to stage a coup d’etat and cause a race war!

Obama is already the etat. How does one coup oneself?

All my cats adore Mickey, the English Springer Spaniel. She, in turn, really likes all eight of the cats. Together they make a cute sleep heep on my sofa.

In a sure sign that Armageddon is soon, the CATO Institute seems to be endorsing tax funds for PBS/NPR. What next? Dogs sleeping with cats?

Too late....

The CATO institute, perhaps one of the leading libertarian think tanks, has soiled itself with this odious nonsense.

Hentoff is a old time socialist of some ill-defined variety. Cato’s association with him is, no doubt, meant to prove that Cato isn’t like those icky serious libertarian-conservatives

Hentoff is very strong on civil liberties and has been critical of Presidents and Congresses of both parties on that front. After Hentoff was fired from the Village Voice, Cato decided to give him a home there because of his strong stances on those issues -- not because of his stances on PBS or abortion. (Hentoff is pro-life.) They don't review or censor his stuff for ideological purity before it's published.
