“You have a point, but then why are Newt’s numbers going up?”

Newt's rallies have gone back to comparing his policies to Obama, and his conservative record to a mass. moderate’s record.

Perry's attacks and the Super Pac ads are also helping to damage Romney.

Romney claims to be a job creator. It is absolutely necessary to ask him to prove it, and answer questions about any controversial decisions that may have been made.

Were any mistakes made, and did he learn from them. The media and the GOP establishment are not going to vett him, so it is up to his challengers to ask the tough questions. Now the choice of words by some may have been ill advised, but I think that his record needs to be examined before the primaries, to help inoculate him from an October surprise.

The fact that the GOP Establishment has re-framed it as an attack on capitalism, should tell you that this is a big area of weakness. I am also still waiting to hear how well he translated his private sector experience into government action which helped create jobs in Massachusetts.

I did read on another thread, that his state ranked near the bottom during his governorship. I am still hoping to see some convincing stats that he had a stellar record on jobs there.

“If you want to improve the company, don’t grab all the assets for yourself and move the company to a land with lower wages....”

The same will be said of Newt taking big money from Freddie and Fannie. Now he comes off as a hypocrite.

According to NRO, Romney was gone from Bain when GS Technologies went under.

No, Bain Did Not Get a "Bailout"

Perry, whom I supported, needs to drop out and give his 5% to Gingrich and Santorum so that they can stop Romney. We can all quibble about who is better-Santorum or Gingrich-but we can also agree they are better than Romney.

Just wait for when Obama and the MSM goes after him for the same stuff, I bet these guys think their denunciations will hold the same clout.

The problem is that, regardless of who the nominee is (and I am not a Mitt supporter by any means), Newt and Perry have just ceded this issue to the Dems. So should Mitt be the eventual nominee ([/shudder]) he won't just have to fight off the MSM and the Dems ... he'll be hit with TV ads citing Newt and Perry.

There are much better ways to tackle this issue, and in a way that both educates the public and inoculates Capitalism against further attacks from statists like Obama and the MSM. Mitt isn't responding well at all, but Newt and Perry are doing the wrong thing in going for the quick kill and overlooking the long-term collateral damage this will cause.

Sorry they have hit the nail on the head.

I have been following the bread crumbs this morning and they have hit a really big nerve.
When the hedge fund, enviros, and sundry Wall Street VULTURE CAPITALIST start yelling you KNOW you have hit the right spot.

Does it bother you that Christie is out yelling for Romney when he thought the King of vulture capitalist CARL ICAHN and Beal Bank bought the TRUMP casinos in NJ?

They are not attacking Capitalism, they are attacking the Whore house called Business as usual on the EAST COAST.

F’ em’

Limbaugh has lost his perspective.

He’s 61 today, not that old, but his ability to see the inner working of liberalism and now the Establishment is missing.

Let’s face it, we are probably going to lose to Romney.

But we still have a chance if Gingrich wins SC.
(Despite the numskulls on here that fall for the media line that “Capitalism is being attacked”) If you are saying that on FR, you are either a closet Mittens fans or ignorant.

Limbaugh is amazingly loose and unconcerned about Romney’s run...still focusing on attacks from Gingrich/Perry. Thanks Rush.

““...instead, he’s gone out of his way to insult the conservative electorate.””

I dont know about recently but my first view of Perry was at the debate where he said conservatives who didnt want to give illegal immigrants children free instate tuition “heartless” is pretty insulting. between that and “oops” i realized this guy was going nowhere.

Hold on a moment. I'm not saying that they're sterling, but so-called vulture capitalists have actually come up with tricks that keep a company going despite it being ruined.

Ever hear of strategic bankruptcy? Those guys developed it to what it is. Strategic bankruptcy allows for a company to keep operating even though it's gone broke. Granted that it usually means pay cuts and/or some jobs lost. But, it's a lot better than outright liquidation - which means everyone loses his/her job - or becoming a zombie corporation operating under a trustee while the obligations get sorted out. Asset stripping was part of the bankruptcy trustee's job. That's the way bankruptcy was handled before those guys came along. In the olden days, when a company went bankrupt it was kaput.

Anyways, I'm making a general point that has little to do with Romney himself. Some groups of people are easy to hate because they're doing the dirty work, and of course some others find it galling if the work's highly paid. And, of course, the people in the field aren't free market purists; they use the system like any other businesspeople. Show me the CEO of a "real" company that would turn down money extracted from the taxpayers in the form of a government subsidy.

“Hate to hear that. Gingrich had to say something after the withering counterattack by the “conservative” talk show hosts. I gingrich going forward with the half-hour documentary expose of Romney? Isn’t there supposed to more in that regarding Romney record of getting rich as a corporate raider?”

It is up to the Super pac whether to go forward with the half-hour film - not Newt. He's not allowed to coordinate. I have watched it, and I don't think it is all that great, but I do think it will put some dents in Romney's main claim to be the person to create jobs in the USA, but it is nothing compared to what Obama will launch.

You can watch it at : www.kingofbain.com

“Newt said it was a mistake, now denies he said that.”

Well, what did he say “exactly’? And I mean a long enough quote so that the listener can judge what was said in context (with question that elecited the quote. News media never seems to report it that way in these situation. Yesterday, when the attacks from Romney (on bothe Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry) came from the media, including the nearly identical attacks from the “conservative” talk-radio hosts, I knew that today they would be reporting that Gingrich and Perry had backed off. Let’s just wait and see. I really sense deaperation on the part of the establishment who has annointed Romney to end this at South Carolina or Florida. They are terrified that Romney’s horrible primary showings are not scaring the base into this herd-mentality-lets-coalesce-around-Romney-and-start-running-against-Obama thing they are pimping. They know if this goes on, their man will not get the nomination.

Capitalism, if defined properly as an champion of economic liberty, is always a force for good.

I don't think that exactly describes what we have today....Capitalists, hate competition, they hate free markets, and they will do anything to snuff it out, especially trying to get Government to help them do it. Now if you can get the government out of the equation, then the markets can be more open....unfortunately, that ship sailed a long time ago.

“How selfish soever man may be supposed, there are evidently some principles in his nature, which interest him in the fortune of others, and render their happiness necessary to him, though he derives nothing from it except the pleasure of seeing it.”

There is nothing in that quote which contradicts my (and Adam Smith's) earlier point, in case you missed it, that an individuals’ motives are irrelevant to the operation of a free market. I assume that Bain Capital was motivated only by it's investors’ self interests rather than by “the fortune of others.” It is not set up as a charitable organization. When I invest in a company, I want it to maximize my return, within the confines of the legal and regulatory environment in which it operates. When I give to a charity, I want it to maximize “the fortunes of others” whom it helps. “The Wealth of Nations” quote is applicable to market behavior and the quote from “The Theory of Moral Sentiments” is applicable to charitable behavior. Too many people want to conflate the two spheres.

True dat. Still, I think is is more insulting to the base to try to convince them Gingrich and Perry are anti-capitalists when they call into question the business ethics of their opponent’s career as a corporate raider. The talk shows hosts are just revealing themselves as they push that meme. So many of their conservative callers have gotten through that are objecting to that line of attack on Gingrich and Perry, that I’ve noticed the host’s call screeners are letting some pretty boring sycophantic callers on the air to make the host look good today.

To: true believer forever; All

I found a few “interesting connections” also.

Here’s a little more background on Bain (Romney’s group);

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clear_Channel_Communications

Bain bought Clear Channel in 2008 in a “leveraged buyout”.

OBTW, Clear Channel filed for bankruptcy protection on 2010.

From the article:

“News talk stations

News talk stations owned by Clear Channel usually have a standard slate of hosts. The morning show is usually local, with other timeslots filled by local and syndicated hosts.

Programs that appear on many Clear Channel talk stations include the Glenn Beck Program — getting his talk show start at Clear Channel owned WFLA (AM) in Tampa, The Rush Limbaugh Show, The Sean Hannity Show, America Now with Andy Dean and Coast to Coast AM, all of which are affiliated with Premiere Radio Networks in some fashion.

The Savage Nation (which was until September 2009 flagshipped at Clear Channel’s KNEW-910), The Mark Levin Show and The Dave Ramsey Show are non-Premiere shows who air on many (if not most) Clear Channel stations.

Limbaugh is almost universally carried on Clear Channel stations in markets where the company has a news talk station, with the exception of markets such as Washington, DC and San Francisco, CA, where ABC Radio (which previously was Limbaugh’s home network) has a news talk station in the market.

New Clear Channel talk radio stations have typically been using the branding “Rush Radio,” while most older ones use a more generic “News Radio” or “News Talk.”
