NYU student refuses to interview deranged occupiers (the local left is flipping out on her)

The Crazy Department-Wide Emails That Everyone at NYU Is Talking About

At around 3:17 on Wednesday morning, every student in NYU's Department of Social and Cultural Analysis received a bizarre "open letter" to NYU President John Sexton, from a student who claimed she'd been "forced" to do an ethnographic assignment on Occupy Wall Street. It was 2,800 words long, oddly typeset, and quickly followed up by another five equally eccentric emails. Someone sent us the full set of emails, which everyone at NYU—and elsewhere—was talking about. Want to read them?

It sounds to me like she has a very valid point, and they messed with the wrong student....

I would have done a fake interview and reported that several of the people I interviewed were under the influence of drugs or alcohol...so they weren’t coherent enough to get much out of except they really liked Lady Gaga.

I don't think it's reasonable to expect Hemingway from a 19-year old, but this is a collection of emails, and they are still one helluva lot better written than the Wookie's Princeton thesis!

“A number of people we talked to expressed concern for Ackerman’s mental state...”

Ahhh...the old “she’s nuts” ploy liberals use to deny their intellectual opponents ...legitimacy....to be followed soon by the “sluts” ploy if that fails...

The real story here is the University forced the students to attend this very dangerous event ~ even entertain the possibility of being beaten, raped, robbed or otherwise abused.

The assignment was simply required.

Most students would consider training involving those risks to be a bit more than they'd bargained for.

Where were the professors all that time ~ were they perhaps SAFE IN THEIR OFFICES in their armed guard protected buildings?

This shows how the liberal academic machine regularly grinds anyone that is not accepting of the liberal “party line” down to submission. It seems that this young lady, with all of her shortcomings, was tenacious enough to get NYU to the point where they paid her off with a grade. Most students would have given up under the weight of bureaucracy, threats, coercion and charges of mental instability. If she keeps that bulldog attitude she'll do well in life. I know some professors. Their goal is to indoctrinate students and help the cause du jour.

If one gets a degree from University of Phoenix, how well is it received?

Wow. Just freakin’ wow.

I have seen EVERY DARNED THING this student complains about done exactly as written.

Faculty vendetta against “uppity” student who questions them in class? {CHECK}

[followed by]

Faculty member publicly belittling student who disagrees with them? {CHECK}

Faculty member refusing to help student during office hours (”I won’t help you because women don’t belong in engineering.”)? {CHECK}

Faculty member “losing” uppity student’s final assignment (”You didn’t hand it in.”)? {CHECK}

School trying to shut student complaints up? {CHECK}

School panicing and folding when media sh*t storm is immanent? {CHECK}

After my stint in academentia, every word of her screed rings true.

Glad I’m outta that cesspool now...

As a graduate degree, U of Phoenix is well received.
Not so sure at the undergrad level.

I earned my M.S. in Systems Mgmt. through USC, when the ran the same program in the 80’s.

It was developed at the request of the gov’t to provide a graduate program for officers, that would be available at locations around the country and some foreign base locations. (initially 60 locations)

Thanks!
I have one daughter who wants to go into Chemistry and one EE. I don’t want them to walk onto a campus.

No idea how others see it. Myself, I would hire that person over an NYU grad.

A number of people we talked to expressed concern for Ackerman's mental state, and, indeed, Ackerman forwarded an email from Professor Zaloom to the SCA listerv—apparently trying to prove Zaloom's misdeeds, but instead sharing what reads like a very fair and patient attempt by a professor to deal with a difficult and disagreeable student.

Yea, no bias there... ::ROLLSEYES::

The comments after the article are very telling. Middle class white girls from the suburbs have no business questioning the wisdom of urbane, urban, liberal elites. To do so suggests incompetence at the least, if not mental illness.
