Break out the party hats! Unemployment is all the way down to 8.5 percent! Whoo-hoo!
Zero Hedge spotlights the steady increase in the number of Americans not in the labor force; he points out, the labor force itself declined by 50K from 153,937 to 153,887. In fact, persons not in the labor force have increased by 7.5 million since January 2007.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics offers this chart: (see below)
The recession may have ended in mid-2009 according to the economists, but the normal rate of growth in the size of the labor force stopped in 2008 and has yet to return.
Labor Force Size January 2009: 154,236,000.
Labor Force Size December 2011: 153,887,000.
Were still down 349,000 from the size of the labor force when Obamas term began. The labor force hit its lowest point during that time in January 2011, at 153,250,000.
Now look at the labor-force-size growth over the preceding three years:
January 2006: 150,214,000.
December 2008: 154,626,000.
Thats 4,412,000 more Americans in the labor force.
Heck of a job, Mr. President. If you drive enough Americans out of the labor force, unemployment will get down to the 4 to 6 percent range it was during the Bush years!
There is another factor that is often overlooked, and that is the growth of the government workforce.
Indeed! And BO has just announced wage increases for all those folks. Keep them on the plantation.
Someone should calculate how many more people Obama needs to make give up to get the “jobless rate” low enough to be re-elected.
Nancy “worst economy ever” Pelosi was all over the MSM in 2005 when unemployment was 4.5% under a Republican administration...
20 million on government payrolls in 2009... They still will not release the federal numbers for 2010.
Obamunists know that they can fix unemployment by hiring more do-nothing, overpaid federal ‘workers’.

the Obama “jobs plan” is ObamaCare....see they’ve been looking at the Brits...

and if little UK can do that with their health care system, then a big ole’ American Federalized Socialized health system can EASILY become the world’s largest employer....
I'm predicitng 2.6% before the election...
The Current FReepathon Pays For The Current Quarters Expenses?
In 2000, our population was 281 million and in 2010 it was 310 million. We have added close to 30 million people. And between now and 2050 we will add another 130 million to our population. In terms of jobs, we will have to run in order to stand still.

...and I'm predicitng 2.6% plus one before after the election...
I agree it has a better chance of really going down with the Dims out of power; I was alluding to how it will be reported before the election - there's no doubt it actually went up in the last 6 months, yet they tell us, despite contradictory numbers, that it went down.
