Barack Obama, the most arrogant US president in decades
Telegraph UK ^ | January 5, 2012 | Nile Gardiner

In December Barack Obama vainly declared himself the fourth best president in American history, up there with the likes of Abraham Lincoln and FDR, just three years into his first term. In an interview with 60 Minutes on CBS he observed:

The issue here is not gonna be a list of accomplishments. As you said yourself, Steve, you know, I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president – with the possible exceptions of Johnson, FDR, and Lincoln – just in terms of what we've gotten done in modern history. But, you know, but when it comes to the economy, we've got a lot more work to do. And we're gonna keep on at it.

Perhaps this display of self-importance is not surprising, coming from a president who enthusiastically accepted the Nobel Peace Prize after just a few months in the job, and even campaigned thousands of miles across the Atlantic in Berlin while running for office. This is a leader who thinks nothing of taking a $4 million, taxpayer-subsidised vacation in Hawaii – nearly 100 times the average annual salary of an American worker, which currently stands at $41,673

And upon his return from the sun-swept beaches of the Pacific, the president decided to bypass the elected representatives of the US Congress

...There is something rotten at the heart of the White House when the President ignores the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution and rules with impunity. Not only is it an unhealthy power play by executive authority in the freest nation on earth, but it is also a display of extraordinary contempt for the American people

And that, folks, is the issue in a nutshell. If the Pubbies are too STOOPID to pick up this ball and run with it, then they are headed for the dustbin of history.

The progressive machine includes MSM.

Not to sound conspiratorial, but not sure there is a two party system. An out of control teenager will continue destructive behavior until grounded by an Adult.

More from the quoted blog:
“..... But instead of a presidency that grasps reality and is serious about getting this great nation back on its feet, the American people are saddled with leadership that is intent on bankrupting and condemning them to decades of decline. Barack Obama sits at the helm of a sinking ship holed below the waterline by arrogance and hubris, driven by liberal elites who are fundamentally out of touch with a disillusioned electorate. President Obama’s contempt for public opinion as well as the US Constitution, coupled with his failing big government agenda, will ultimately prove his downfall in an increasingly conservative nation that won’t readily accept the liberal mantra that it’s best days are behind it.”

Well said.

Just like a teen child pushing the limits imposed by his/her parents, OBAMA will keep pushing those limits until HE gets smacked down. It appears nobody in congress has the cojones to take any real action - they just offer lip service.

Personally, I think a good starting point would be to completely defund not only the positions HE's illegally filled, but also all employees, operating, and travel expenses of the bureaucracies that those individuals head. But that's only a starting point.

My loathing of the illegitimate bisexual Halfrican Marxist Kenyan Muslim knows no earthly bounds.

And it is so refreshing to see someone from across The Pond agreeing with me.

Actually, Ronald Reagan had more real accomplishments - in both domestic and foreign affairs - than anything OBAMA has done. Even George W. Bush was more successful with his foreign policy. After all, he did get an international alliance to go after the Taliban in Afghanistan. Where is OBAMA's international alliance in dealing with the worldwide economic situation? OBAMA claims that HIS actions have been successful, but in actuality they have delayed the recovery. And I think history will tell us that this delay has been a root cause - if not THE root cause - of the international economy spiraling downwards out of control.

I guess it all depends on what HE means by "accomplishments".

but it is also a display of extraordinary contempt for the American people, and two houses that allow it.

that it the big issue, we have a government administration that wants us punished

Article from foreign source, regarding 2008 lack of vetting and contempt for American people.

Mysterious Shadow: Code OBAMA

... Obama was sued in Federal Court to produce his birth certificate. He refused and instead hired two legal firms to make up reasons why he shouldn’t have to. The case was taken to the United States Supreme Court and they also asked him to respond. Again, he refused. Obama took an oath to defend the Constitution. Instead he speaks of changing it. There are other lawsuits that Obama is not responding to. In this photograph, we see Obama refusing to Salute the American flag and say the pledge of Allegiance as everyone else on the stage was doing.

He doesn’t respect American citizens asking to see if he is eligible to be President. He doesn’t respect the United States Federal Court or the United States Supreme Court or the United States Constitution. And if he was smoking pot and using cocaine as he says in is book, he doesn’t even respect himself.

If the Pubbies are too STOOPID to pick up this ball and run with it, then they are headed for the dustbin of history.

They are, on both counts, yet most all Freepers will pillory anyone suggesting a third party as a remedy.

"If you always do as you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got" but the conservatives think they're anointed and it doesn't apply to them. So, either change or go down the crapper and quit your bitching!!!

"We, the People" are the only 'KEEPERS' of the Constitution, according to Justice Story, who will be quoted later herein.

"Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women; when it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it; no constitution, no law, no court even can do much to help it." - Judge Learned Hand

The good news is that there are millions of Americans in whose hearts the "spirit of liberty" is alive and who, if called upon to spread its message, may rise to the occasion in the Year 2012. Those citizens, however, must rekindle and restore the founding principles which are essential to the cause of liberty for any people.

Here is the concluding paragraph of Justice Joseph Story's "Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States":

"§ 1907. If these Commentaries shall but inspire in the rising generation a more ardent love of their country, an unquenchable thirst for liberty, and a profound reverence for the constitution and the Union, then they will have accomplished all, that their author ought to desire. Let the American youth never forget, that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capable, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the substantial blessings of life, the peaceful enjoyment of liberty, property, religion, and independence. The structure has been erected by architects of consummate skill and fidelity; its foundations are solid; its compartments are beautiful, as well as useful; its arrangements are full of wisdom and order; and its defences are impregnable from without. It has been reared for immortality, if the work of man may justly aspire to such a title. It may, nevertheless, perish in an hour by the folly, or corruption, or negligence of its only keepers, THE PEOPLE. Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them."

With regard to "republics," the last sentence is worth repeating: "They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them"

A President who bypasses the Constitution's chains upon the Executive's behavior, by claiming that he must take actions alone on behalf of his constituiencies, is betraying the principles of liberty enshrined in the Constitution.

It is the duty of citizens who understand their own personal role as KEEPERS of the Constitution to assert their rights and call their elected representatives to account for violations of the Constitution's restrictions in order that future generations may be free.

"The President himself is no more than a representative of public opinion at the time of his election; and as public opinion is subject to great and frequent fluctuations, he must accommodate his policy to them; or the people will speedily give him a successor; or either House of Congress will effectually control his power. It is thus, and in no other sense that the Constitution of the United States is democratic - for the government of our country, instead of a Democracy the most simple, is the most complicated government on the face of the globe." - John Quincy Adams
