You’re right, I believe the article did state a “multimillion dollar home” for Newt.
If Mitt’s the nominee I’d like to see that Americans Elect party exercise the nuclear option and make a ticket out of Newt Gingrich and Hilary Clinton. It would be hilarious to see the consternation that would cause Mittney and Bambam. If they won, at least Hilary would be powerless enough in the V.P. slot and if not, at least the election might become a spectacularly entertaining mess.
You’ll be giving it a rest soon. The Newt boomlet is over. And, I don’t plan on coming to you anytime soon for permission to keep posting here.
“**make Romneys personal wealth an issue**
What else can we do to throw out Romney?”
I don’t think attacking him from the left is the most productive of ideas!
I get the feeling that if any of these people actually start leading, fighting Obama and acting like a real President-in waiting rather than bitch fighting over nonsense then they will find themselves streaks ahead for the GOP nomination.
I don’t think Romney can fight Obama as they are too much alike and I don’t think Newt looks like a President and needs to get himself out of the muck.

And that’s why he has a $500,000.00 credit limit at Tiffanys.’ He’s poor.
Which states do you see Newt winning in January or February? Certainly not New Hampshire - but it’s not so red. I know Newt was way up in SC mid-December but that’s likely either gone or about to be gone with the big ad-buys that have been made (which assumes they’ll be as effective in SC ad they were in IA). Very curious where you see Newt finishing first in states as I think he’ll get very small very fast.
You miss the very simple point of the post. Reagan knew liberal republicans when he created the 11th commandment and Romney would have been middle of the pack to right given Ford/Rockefeller types. So you can say that it’s OK for Newt to ignore it if that’s your wish - but don’t pretend that it respects Reagan’s intent - he would have handled Romney without personal attack - let alone going anti-business, anti-capitalist.
As far as learning more about Newt, I suppose I could. I have seen every debate this year. I’ve watched Newt videos in the past - both political and historical. I’ve been reading Gingrich books on/off since I read his intro to Future Shock. I’ve also seen/heard the various TV and talk-radio interview. The opinions were not exhaustively researched but they were also not without thought. Newt has good policy and the occasional odd policy. In regards to Newt getting touch with Romney - he comes off whiney and worse. To quote Stepbrothers, when he goes anti-capitalist, anti-rich, anti-business to “get” Romney - Newt - “You’re Just Coming Off Stupid”
I see many FReepers are willfully taking the bait of statements mutilated entirely out of context, again.
Some of you guys make such great lemmings for the MSM.
Uh, sure, Newt. You’re not rich. I guess you spent it all on your wife.
If you call the free market getting paid by tax payer money....then you are correct
Yeah, sounds like he’s suffering from OWS syndrome.
Mitt happens to be rich. Liberals bash rich people, it's what they do. Mitt happens to be the recipient this time, I don't care.
You may find it equally abhorrent to beat up on Mitt because of his religion. You ain't seen nothin' yet. If, God forbid, Mitt becomes the "R" candidate, you will see the full fury of the media unleashed and not just the so called, "mainstream media", all media, if they are interested at all about the truth, will join in because Mormonism is truly weird and they won't even have to make up their usual lies about the "R" candidate. They won't have to use their class warfare anymore, they will have a much juicier subject to talk about.
They are lurking now, waiting, hoping, for a Romney nomination, then all they'll have to do is spread the truth.
Secretary of Tonsorial Endeavors, maybe. I believe that Secretary of Statements is 56th in the line of presidential succession and that's too darn close
The Mormon vs the Muslim.
Having an account at Tiffany’s I think puts him in with the rich...but he’s better than Romney or Paul...
You are correct look at he field in the 1980 primary
GW Bush
R. Dole
j Anderson
P Crane
All of these are either left of or similar to Romney today and Reagan never acted like Gingrich he took them on regarding issues and blew them out of the water.
Wow - forgot about Crane. Hillsdale grad. It’s one thing to like your candidate and support them - it’s quite another to just ignore history.
Reagan would not have done what Gingrich is doing and would not have approved of trying to go scorched earth, any means necessary on Romney. It’s classless.
Romney is a liberal republican and has flip/flopped-evolved on a number of issues (though so did Reagan moving from Dem to Rep). That should be enough to do him in if it’s not a majority position. Attacking him for being a businessman? Really? Pretending you’re not rich simply because Romney is Trading Places/wrinkly old white people rich? How is that credible? And when did rich become a bad thing for us? Romney didn’t get rich off of selling celebrity and government access - so I don’t see where it’s a bad thing.
