It isnt just Richard Cordray. Obama is also set to use recess appointments to install his picks to the National Labor Relations Board, according to White House officials and others familiar with ongoing discussions.
The move, which is arguably as impotant as the Cordray appointment, will ratchet up opposition from Republicans and make this an even bigger fight, since they have been attacking the NLRB regularly for its moves to streamline union elections and inform workers of their rights.
Obama is set to appoint Sharon Block, Terence Flynn, and Richard Griffin to the board something unions have made a big priority for them in the new year. Senate Republicans have opposed the recess appointments to the NLRB on constitutional grounds, but unions charge that Republicans are only interested in rendering the agency inoperative.

Take that, Venezuela! We have a Hugo, too.
Un-flippin believable! If a Republican President had pulled this kind of crap, the national media and the Democrats would be screaming for impeachment hearings TODAY! Wanna bet this doesn’t even get mentioned on the nightly news?
So, what do we do about it?
The War on Americans is now on warp speed.
“Un-flippin believable! If a Republican President had pulled this kind of crap, the national media and the Democrats would be screaming for impeachment hearings TODAY! Wanna bet this doesnt even get mentioned on the nightly news?”
“So, what do we do about it?”
On January 4, 2006 President Bush made 17 Recess Appointments.
There were no impeachment hearings and the national media did not scream.
Did you object this strongly to Bush’s 17 Recess Appointments?
Ah yes. Another weasel worded lawyerly “what the definition of ‘is’ is move by the transparent one.
Where’s the Tea Party March on Washington?
We have Castro, Hugo, and A-Jad all rolled into one..if ANY Republican President had done this the media would be up in arms..isnt what Obama doing illegal? How the hell can he get away with this? Oh, hehe I Made a funny, I forgot, its Obama, the media’s “messiah” he can get away with anything
Senate Republicans stop all nominations until illegal appointments are withdrawn.
House Republicans refuse to appropriate/budget funds for any part of the executive branch until illegal appointments are withdrawn.
Tea Party Rally in February in DC to protest illegal appointments.
Pledge by Republican Senators & Congressmen to not raise the debt ceiling again until illegal appointments are withdrawn.
It’s not like the Constitution and the Rule of Law apply to Elected DC Democrats, anymore.
“On January 4, 2006 President Bush made 17 Recess Appointments.”
These illegal recess appointments? What were they and when did congress go in session?
The Senate is not in recess; therefore, these appointments are blatantly unconstitutional.
Some times I wonder whose side you’re on.
He’s such a swine. This guy definitely needs to go. If the Senate GOP sits on their hands on this one, expect long term repercussions not only in their political careers but in the authority of Congress when compared to a dictatorial President.
