“The killing of Osama bin Laden during a raid by Navy SEALs on his hideout in Pakistan was the top news story of 2011, followed by Japan's earthquake/tsunami/meltdown disaster, according to The Associated Press' annual poll of U.S. editors and news directors,” David Crary of the Associated Press reported, presenting the news agency’s top 10 stories for the year.
Fair enough. They were huge stories. The other stories selected were all noteworthy in their own ways as well, but there is one more that is remarkable in its absence from inclusion: Fast and Furious.
Officials of the United States government allowed guns to be smuggled across international borders into a sovereign neighboring country—where they were received by murderous cartels, and which resulted in the deaths of American law enforcement officers and untold numbers of Mexican (and U.S.?) citizens—all the while leaving the Mexican government in the dark and stonewalling numerous Congressional inquiries to prevent exposing how high up in the administration approval and direction came from—and that does not make the top 10?
It’s hardly surprising the “Authorized Journalists” don’t want to call attention to “Project Gunwalker.” It’s been documented in this column numerous times over the past year that they have, for the most part, ignored the story altogether. Or, when they have noticed it, they’ve twisted it to shield the administration and/or exploited it to demand those responsible be given even more power to enforce yet more “gun control” laws.
There’s another big story the Fourth Estate Fifth Columnists missed for 2011: Their growing, self-created irrelevance, and how in spite of their deliberate indifference, coupled with agenda-driven manipulation, they are no longer the sole gatekeepers of information.

I guess Fox news may see the birther issue as too extreme. They probably have focus groups that keep appealing to a targeted base that maintains their ratings and income.

There is a true and present possibility that whistle-blowers and zealous reporters would have tragic accidents or find themselves perpetrators of crimes such as tax fraud, drugs or child pornography.

The time that Matt Drudge picked up the story of Monica Lewinsky from Newsweek before the story was spiked was the initial turning point-the watershed.

Why not? They have ignored i-bama’s illegal status all this time. No records of any kind whatsoever. They will ignore it out of existence if they can.
Obama may not let Holder go, but in the end, close to election time. Issa and Grassley will bring this out in some way that the media will not be able to ignore.
It may even be the beginning of impeachment hearings if necessary - but they will make sure that it gets media attention.
I think that this is why the republican machine is not so worried that it is not getting the attention that it deserves.
Let Obama continue to shelter Holder. It shows that he wants to hide him and that he is hiding and covering for a reason. That they are in this together. meanwhile, Issa and Grassley are gathering evidence like mad men. More than enough to put them both away.
