Newt Gingrich.. do you care about his past or America’s Future?
American Spectator ^ | December 28, 2011 | Peter Ferrara

Posted on 12/29/2011 4:42:59 PM PST by true believer forever

Gingrich's rebellion against Bush's 1990 betrayal of Reaganomics was his finest hour. That leadership is what led to the House Republican takeover in 1994. If conservatives and supply-siders do not rally around Gingrich now, and allow the Bush crowd to win with Romney, Reaganism will have been routed out of the Republican Party. Undoubtedly, John Sununu will pick Romney's budget director (remember his pick of Supreme Court Justice David Souter over the conservative alternative that would have given conservatives a firm majority on the Court). The first thing Romney will do if elected is exactly the reprise of the 1990 tax increase budget deal for which the Washington establishment that will run a Romney Administration is always pining. That will require another round of Democrats in the White House before conservatives can even get a chance at winning again, which America cannot survive at this point.

Newtron bomb end war on america

Newt Gingrich.. do you care about his past or America’s Future?

"He led us to victory before. Spectacular, historic victory. The strategy and content of his 1994 Contract with America propelled the Republicans in 1994 to win control of the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years. Even the Reagan Revolution in the 1980s failed to achieve that.

Moreover, once in power, Gingrich delivered on his promises, and maintained a solid conservative record. He carried out the Contract with America in full, holding a vote on every item as promised, most of which did pass. His record was unswervingly pro-life, pro-gun and Second Amendment, and anti-tax."**

Newt's the only one with the experience, and the courage to guide America through these troubling times.

And, he will hit the ground running on DAY ONE.*

VOTE NEWT.

He knows how to fix it.

*Presidents can begin turning things around very very quickly. As part of his 21st Century Contract with America, Newt has pledged to issue a series of Executive Orders to create jobs and help undo the damage of the Obama administration on the first day of his administration. Newt.org will periodically release user submitted executive orders which will be added to the list he will sign on the first day of his presidency.  Learn more about Newt's Day One Executive Orders:  http://www.newt.org/contract/day-one-plan

(the best predictor....) yes, and if Newt handled the
budget with skill before, he can do it again.

However, if you're judging his personal life, I'll
disagree. Since I believe his faith and mine allow
for forgiveness.

If we disregard Newt’s past, viewing him as a clean slate, on what basis can anyone claim support of his candidacy? And if we must pick and choose what aspects of his past we do want to accept... Well, I’ll stop right there. It gets way too convoluted. I’ll just say that I care both about Newt’s past and America’s future - which is why I will not be supporting him in the primaries.

You can read his books, his white papers, watch a few of his documentaries that depict his deep love for this country. You can objectively look at what he accomplished - that no one else ever accomplished - despite his personal demons. You can understand he has a new faith in Christ, and you can come to the intellectual understanding that the establishment republicans are scared to death of him because he won’t do what they tell him and toe the party line... just a thought...

Not according to Christian belief in forgiveness and being made new through faith in Christ Jesus... People become new and start over again... I believe that is what Newt has found.

So much for the American Spectator and the Heritage Foundation - they have a nut writing for them.

Newt hasn't a prayer of getting nominated, much less elected.

Most conservatives I know view him as bad as, or worse than Romney.

To forgive ones brother is indeed the Christian thing to do when they (ATTENTION: key word in use here) ask for forgiveness but that doesn't require that I as a Christan nor my non-believing brother's and sister's to ever forget their sinful deeds or ways. So therefore I didn't say to not forgive our errant brother but only don't forget where thine brother has been. My belief requires me to forgive (when asked to) but doesn't require me to EVER forget as the only other man to live a perfect life ended up on the cross.

Man is known all down through time to be a sinful being who sins over and over. Newt is no different. Nor are you and I brother so get off your holier than I high-horse and walk among us lowly sinners who strive to walk in His path daily. Newt is as big or maybe even bigger a sinner in this regard than any of us here. Get over it and yourselves. Newt is not Jesus resurrected from the grave you want to believe so much in.

oh my gosh - where did that come from? Can you point one statement I made that was holier than thou... I am a sinner being saved by grace, just like I believe Newt is, and I relate to someone not being allowed to be a new creature in Christ Jesus... that was my point.

As far as we should never forget another's sins, the Lord does forget - thankfully and blessedly He forgets:

Hebrews 8:12NLT “I will forgive their wrongdoings, and I will never again remember their sins," says the Lord.”

...as far as saying I consider the Newt the Risen Lord, that is not only offensive, it is blasphemous to me. How could you even say something like that to someone you don't even know, whose heart you've never seen? Oh my gosh...

Matthew 6:14-15 NIV
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Matthew 18: 21-22 NIV
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, " Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times? " Jesus answered, " I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times."

Numbers 14:19-20 NIV
In accordance with your great love, forgive the sin of these people, just as you have pardoned them from the time they left Egypt until now. The Lord replied, " I have forgiven them, as you asked."

John 8:7 NIV
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

Acts 7:59-60 NIV
While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, " Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." Then he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep.

Luke 17:3-4 NIV
So watch yourselves. " If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents forgive him. If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says , 'I repent,' forgive him."

Ephesians 4:32 ESV Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Colossians 3:13 ESV Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

Proverbs 19:11 ESV Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.

Matthew 18:32-35 ESV Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. (33) And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ (34) And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt. (35) So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.”

Colossians 2:13-14 ESV And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, (14) by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

Romans 4:7-8 ESV “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; (8) blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”

Mark 11:25NLT  “When you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

Colossians 3:13NLT “You must make allowance for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

Hebrews 8:12NLT “I will forgive their wrongdoings, and I will never again remember their sins," says the Lord.”

Matthew 6:14-15NLT  “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.“

Ephesians 4:32NLT  “Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

Luke 6:37NLT  “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.”

Matthew 6:12NLT  “And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.”

Luke 18:9-14 NIV  The Parable of the Pharisee and Tax Collector

9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Luke 6:42 NIV  “How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.”

Newt is ideal, really.

He has a proven record of reform.

He has been through the media gauntlet, endured negative political attacks and maintained a composure that reminds me of a president.

He has the communication skills to trounce Obama in the debates.

The liberals hate him and for good reason. He has the political skill circumvent and defeat their harebrained ideas.

He is going to make positive changes from day one.
