If our "Present" was a true American, he would make it go away.
That would light the fuse real good!
I am sure Obama is writing a strongly worded letter to the mullahs in between his rounds of golf in Hawaii. I am also sure a capitulation speech is already in his teleprompter.
Go Navy!

US warns Iran over threat to block oil route
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-16348633
The US Navy has said it will not tolerate disruption to a vital oil-trade route, following an Iranian threat to close it.
Iran warned it would shut the Strait of Hormuz if the West imposed more sanctions over its nuclear programme.
The US and its allies believe Iran is trying to develop a nuclear weapon - a charge Tehran denies.
Reacting to Iran’s warning, a US Fifth Fleet spokeswoman said it was “always ready to counter malevolent actions”.
The Strait of Hormuz links the Gulf - and the oil-producing states of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) - to the Indian Ocean. About 40% of the world’s tanker-borne oil passes through it.
The US maintains a naval presence in the Gulf, largely to ensure the transport of oil remains open.

could easily close the Strait of Hormuz

Keeping it closed will likely quickly result in the following signs going up in Iran.
Or at least it will under our next president.
Would you agree with that assessment? At least beyond it's adjacent waters?
The liberals responded with scorn when Bush said that Iran, Iraq, and North Korea were an axis of evil.
Well, Saddam Hussein is gone from Iraq. But which countries have caused great threats to world peace in recent years? Iran and North Korea have been at the top of the list. Could “W” have been right about an axis of evil?
Ahmadineajad (sp?) calls for the destruction of Israel. Is he a peace loving leader of his country? Does Obama think he’s a peace loving leader?
The correct spelling is "Imanutjob".
The press has also used Mahmoud Ahmadinejad but I think they messed up the translation to proper American.
We are the only ones who can do the heavy lifting. Most of the rest are just posturing asses and has-bens.
"China lacks the ability to project power beyond its own borders. However, this is changing fast, wont be too many years before they will be able to do so. China is currently developing a deep water navy, carriers, etc."I agree with this statement in full to a point.
They do have the ability to create strong surface action groups with decent AAW, ASW, and ASuW surface vessels, and even a Phibron with their new LPDs. They are lacking a carrier and carrier aircraft at the present time to fully protect those groups as they transited to far places.
Until they get that carrier operational with a couple of wings of their new J-15 fighters...they will not be able to project that power into any space contested by the US Navy, or the French, or Italians, or Spain...basically anyone who would contest it who had a naval air arm.
That will change pretty dramtically over the next 5-10 years as they develop 3-4 large carriers of their own and the aircraft to go with the other assets they have already developed.
They already have decent surface action, along with SSNs (about initial LA Class capability), and Phibron and Unrep capabilities.
Prone.
Thanks Jeff.
It only takes a few of their missiles to sink a few large ships and close the channel.
Ron, Nut Job, Paul would most likely lend them America;s ships to help block the straights.
Yea, and the letter is written in bold capital letter which should scare the crap out of them.
On more important news, mac daddy is very busy planing his 300th vacation at the tax payer expense and does not want to disturb anymore by such minor bumps in the road.
