Mitt Romney touts conservative credentials in new ad [BARF!]
Boston Globe ^ | Dec 26, 2011 | By Shira Schoenberg, Globe Correspondent

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is a conservative. At least, that is the point the former Massachusetts governor is trying to make with a new TV ad airing in Iowa.

The new ad, titled “Conservative Agenda,” shows Romney speaking on the stump and meeting with voters, as he makes a series of commitments. “I am going to do something to government. I’m going to make it ‘Simpler, and Smaller, and Smarter,’” Romney says. “Getting rid of programs, turning programs back to states, and finally making government itself more efficient.”

Romney pledges to repeal President Obama’s health care overhaul and balance the federal budget.

The ad comes as Romney tries to counter the perception among some conservative Republican voters that he is too moderate. A NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll conducted Dec. 7-11 found that only 29 percent of Republican primary voters nationally viewed Romney as “conservative” – compared to 57 percent for former House speaker Newt Gingrich and 48 percent for Texas Representative Ron Paul. More than half of those polled – 53 percent – called Romney a moderate while 11 percent considered him liberal.

If it’s that or 4 more of Obama, I’m for Romney.

Saying that you want an actual conservative but will vote for Romney in the general election is like saying that you want to be paid $100 an hour, but that you will accept being paid a penny an hour.

The way I look at, Romney’s our John Kerry - nobody really likes him but he might be the nominee because he seems electable.

I’d rather it were Cheney or Rumsfeld! But they’re too old and not running. So what’re you going to do??

In the end we only get two choices and I’m not voting for Obama. Well, three choices, but I’m not staying home either.

Well, if Romney is the best the Republican party has to offer, then I’m no longer a Republican. Romney will not be promoted on FR! Not on my watch!!

That’s right. And it says right at the top of the page:

“Welcome to Free Republic, America’s exclusive site for God, Family, Country, Life & Liberty conservatives!”

Romney doesn’t fit the bill.

Willard is just like his daddy George — brain washed totally clean. Empty headed RINO who refuses to support Conservative candidates, platforms, and positions.

” - - - actually installed a socialist healthcare system (RomneyCare) which became the model and impetus for ObamaCare.”

HEY! YEAH YOU, Willy Romney! Let me ‘splain the way the voters see things:

“Politicians judges themselves on what they say, whereas voters judge politicians on what they do.”

BTW Willy, if a Conservative conserves, then just what is it that you have EVER conserved?

It seems to me that many of the self-described “conservatives”, especially those running for offfice, are trying to marginalise the social agenda aspect of conservatism into oblivion.

Agreed, I've said it before, social conservatism works, its the model that many "socially liberal" politicians want to follow for their own family, but seem obsessed with making sure its not followed by anyone elses.......

Mitt Romney is a social liberal/leftist, yet, does anyone think he would allow himself to follow or live or his family to follow or live a socially liberal lifestyle ?

Socially liberalism, good enough for thee, but not for me...........

but kicked the Boy Scouts out due to their clean and wholesome policies, ie, no homosexual scout masters

That is completely inaccurate and untrue, FYI. I don't like Romney, but he never "kicked out the Boy Scouts." Don't believe everything you read at NewsMax.

LOL! Gotta love that mincing expression and those mom jeans, along with the fey crook of his right arm.

I’ve never seen a more devastating photo of Willard.

>>>Pssst, lil secret, Bush weren’t no Texan either. Don’t tell no one I told’ja, they’ll get their hackles up

It is an open secret that native Texans consider GW Bush and his daddy, to be Yankee carpetbaggers from New England. America would not be suffering from these big government problems, if we had elected a real Texan as President in the year 2000.

DOUBLE BARF!

I turned FOX off, since they are playing this ad every hour on the hour. And all sorts of “Why we should not vote for Newt” assassination hit pieces from political hacks in between.

Not to mention, all the warped Democrat polls from Iowa. There is only so much if this crap I can take. I am seriously getting discouraged.

You sound rather new to politics. You completely bypass Newt, mostly out of ignorance. Which is why I say you are terribly inexperienced. Had you been, you would be well aware of who Newt Gingrich is, who led us to new levels of Conservatism during the Reagan and Clinton years.

You also don’t seem to understand that there have been no votes cast yet, and all the National polls are still holding Newt at the top. This thing is far from over.

Romney can’t get above 25%. (There is a solid reason for that.) No matter how hard he tries. And after Iowa, some of the second tier will drop out and the dynamics will change rapidly. Hold your doom and gloom wincing until then.

"Maybe conservative by Northeasterner standards,"

Hey, I'm a "northeasterner". DO NOT lump me in with the others, it's quite offensive.

Although, I am "branded" as an extremist here. There are many of us. Unfortunately the commies and illegals have taken over.

No offense. It really is true though. Generally speaking, democrats from Texas are typically more conservative (as conservative as a liberal can be) than democrats up in the Northeast or West coast.

Same goes with republicans. George Bush, Mitt Romney, Guliani, Christie, Scott Brown...

You on the other hand are right where God would have you, tormenting the liberals. Love it. Keep up the good job!
