New Haven man gets 80 years in prison for 2009 East Rock rape, attempted murder

NEW HAVEN — For one last time, the woman faced the man who repeatedly beat and raped her, and she told her story.

Clearly moved by the victim’s “extraordinary dignity and immeasurable courage,” Superior Court Judge David Gold Thursday sentenced Jose Angel Moreno-Hernandez to serve 80 years in prison for what he did to the young woman and her family.

She was in the courtroom with her mother, father, sisters, boyfriend and about 25 other supporters, including the police officers and detectives who found and arrested the defendant a few hours after the prolonged attack in her car and then at East Rock Park.

On the other side of the room sat Moreno-Hernandez’ brother, Marvelio Moreno-Hernandez.

The defendant, in an orange prison jumpsuit and leg irons, wore an earpiece so he could hear a translation of the emotional victim impact statements.

He showed no emotion. But he did apologize, saying, “I don’t know what happened.”

Isn't New Haven a sanctuary city , wasn't this the same city where they wanted illegals to be allowed to vote in local elections ?

Essentially, this girl paid dearly because the generation before her has shirked and failed in its inherited duty to protect the nation.

"Superior Court Judge David Gold Thursday sentenced Jose Angel Moreno-Hernandez to serve 80 years in prison"

So he'll be out just in time next year to vote for Zero.

He’s off the streets for good.

One less sexual predator on the streets of New Haven.

But he did apologize, saying, “I don’t know what happened.”

They've really lowered the bar on the whole concept of "apology".

CT is a shall-issue RTC state. New York and Rhode Island don’t allow the RTC.

Oh come on, you know the answer to that one! (work that Americans will not do because every American must be either an accountant or a lawyer/s;)

Right. Like spending a lifetime behind bars. At least he’ll have a roof his head. Liberals should stop yapping about how hard cons have it.

Cut it off, with a hammer, then let it begin it’s sentence.

Moreno-Hernandez, now 29, would be eligible for parole once he serves 85 percent of the 80 years.

He would have to turn 68 before he's eligible for parole. Assuming he's still around by then. He'll never hurt any one else again. He could have gotten a collective 165 year sentence.

Sorry... he’ll likely die behind bars. Since he is 29 now, 85% of the 80 years is 68 years and add that to his current age, its a death sentence. He’ll be up for parole when he turns 97.

That’s the way it ought to be for that monster scumbag.

Some apology. Did the victim and the family even understand what he was saying?

Right. Taking advantage of someone is a dumb thing to do. We all need kindness from strangers in this world. It makes it a lot harder for victims to trust and help truly innocent people on account of what those animals have done to them.

I read the entire article. It is totally disgusting. And I'm sure this is not the only case of this magnitude in this country. This guy was caught. How many haven't. My solution to the problem of illegal immigrants committing crimes in this country is to have them serve time in our prisons. If they are released they will only come back and when they do they are much the wiser and probably commit the same crime. The only twist is to have the U S bill the country from which they came for the cost of incarceration of the individual. If the country doesn't pay, levy their assets in this country such as their embassy. What the hell the government levies all the time against it's citizens that are legal, working and doing their best. There are many ways to make sure the illegal problem goes away, but for the almighty vote, some congress people will sell their souls. Some Presidents will also.
American public is sound asleep and haven't a clue what's happening to it.
I notice the columnist that wrote the story, a guy named Beach, doesn't say “ILLEGAL MEXICAN IMIGRANT”. He calls him a New Haven Man. First he isn't a man, he's an animal, second he wasn't from New Haven. Brilliant publishing.

Moreno-Hernandez, now 29...

Well, he's not exactly tender, but he'll do for some of those hardened cons. I'm sure they'll be taking long warm soapy showers together for quite awhile. Then he'll die from AIDS. That's about the best justice that can be expected from the system, now.

Its a reminder to Open Borders Newt Gingrich that deportation of illegal aliens in fact is neither impractical nor inhumane.

A lot of illegals coming here don’t exactly have benign intentions. They prey upon innocent Americans and they should not be offered a gateway to American citizenship.

The moral of the tale is as long as we don’t secure our borders, we can expect so-called “undocumented” aliens to inflict more crimes upon Americans.

If Gingrich doesn’t understand that, he understands nothing.

"Isn't New Haven a sanctuary city , wasn't this the same city where they wanted illegals to be allowed to vote in local elections ? "

It would be serving justice if those who brought the sanctuary city effort were sued in civil court and held liable for damages that would burden them for life. It wouldn't equal this woman's emotional damage, but it would send a message to the liberal morons who continue to degrade our society.
