Trump switches voter registration to 'independent'

Donald Trump, who recently pulled out of moderating a Newsmax-sponsored GOP debate that only Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum would commit to, has switched his voter registration to "independent," a source confirms.

The move was made yesterday, and will make Trump a registered "blank" — used interchangeably with "registered independent" in New York political parlance — but not right away.

A Board of Elections spokeswoman hasn't responded to a call for comment about when it would take effect, but sources familiar with the city's BoE rules say that Trump missed the cutoff allowing his registration switch to take effect for next year. This means that, while he has filed the paperwork, he can technically still vote in the GOP primary and won't become an independent until after the November 2012 general election.

Trump has not been a lifelong Republican, and in some ways his move mirrors the path that Mike Bloomberg took — Democrat to Republican to independent.

“If this is a setup for a third party run, he’s got to be in with O because he’d have to know it would kill our chances.”

If were stuck with Mitt, we don’t have any chances. A third party is all that will be left. If the choice were Obama or Mitt or trump, I would consider voting for Trump.

Trump is getting ready to help Obama be win again.

Not half as much as Boehner's helping him. Did you forget what happened last week already?

After last week and Boehner's latest failure Trump's not the only one disappointed with the GOP from what I'm hearing.

Actually Trump has been seeing RINO Romney rising in the polls. That’s why he’s thinking about jumping back in. He was hoping someone much smarter and more conservative would win the nomination. Trump was pulling for Gingrich.

Not the 3rd party candidate I’d hoped for.

>>the GOP better wake up before Trump wins on the issue of unfair trade<<

Surely you meant free trade? If it is unfair trade, then perhaps he should win on this issue.

I for one would love to have the candidates focus on important issues such as....Washington political animals give away the farm to China.

A lil less about Newts pillow talk, Perry's can't hardly talk and Mitts talk like a used car salesman talk.

The Constitution is silent on abortion. Regardless of what liberals say.The Constitution strictly prohibits abortion. Denying anyone their "...right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," is a violation of the United States Constitution.

And as far as liberals are concerned, they don’t know what the hell they’re talking about when it comes to the Constitution, because they’re either making Amendments up that don’t even exist or simply ignoring the Constitution altogether.
