“Now we are totally broke with 15 trillion in debt and 70 billion in unfunded liabilities”

One of Paul's stupid statements that the rubes fall for. We are broke because of entitlement spending; not because of our relatively small foreign aid budget.
Paul dishes this crap out; and his jell brained followers don't question any of it. Scary; this is how fascism starts.

The top three budget items is Social Security, Medicare and Defense. You cannot begin spending reform without looking at all three. In a time of fiscal austerity and 16 percent unemployment (using the Labor Department method of calculating during the 1930’s which included people who want a job but gave up looking and people who want a job but forced to work part time) it is kind of hard to justify foreign aid when the US needs its resources home. One doesn’t have to be a facist to come to that conclusion. One of the byproducts of war on terrorism is once you removed the offending nation’s government you must rebuild the country or chaos will reign and terrorists will move in with training camps and bases. That means foreign aid and nation building funding at a time when the US must cutback gov services to her own citizens as budget deficits must be closed. When our society is unemployed and facing gov cutbacks, it is natural for her citizens to question aid given to foreign countries. Want to prevent this, make sure we have a strong economy and reckless behavior by major corporations that crashes the economy are dealt with severely. Otherwise the financial pressures will impact our ability to maintain military and political power in the world. Right now the DoD recognizes that our fiscal debt is a potential national security threat. They are the only Federal Department with the integrity to acknowledge it.

“US will be the Leader of the Free World and lay the groundwork for endless cycle of world power great games which eventually grows to the point it bankrupts of Treasury”

U.S. leadership of the free world helped the U.S. and its allies to remain free and prosperous. They didn't bankrupt the U.S. or anyone else.

What is bankrupting Greece, much of Europe and the U.S. are the welfare state programs that create a class of people that are dependent on handouts from the government and incapable of contributing to a productive society. These programs are unsustainable and unless they are reformed they will bankrupt the U.S.

You're statements that America is to blame for the problems in the world are simply incorrect.

I agree. I think Ron Paul is slipping into senility.

He’s not slipping into senility, he’s always been nuts

If Japan did not bomb the US WW2 would have been the same

I try to hold back on these Paul threads and just laugh, but that was an ignorant statement
