California is proof that given enough bad government, one can turn gold into lead.

If I had the money I would move the he** out of CA so fast all they would see would be a streak of light.

If and when Jim and John move Free Republic out of California, then the last best hope for the once-Golden State is lost. It would be a real coup for Christian Conservative Texas to be the HQ for FR!

And based on what's happening tonight at Candlestick Park, it looks like steady power is unreliable out there. :-)

The Kalifornians that are leaving are the conservatives that might save this state. Once they are gone, the option to turn this around leaves with them.

They are not all the wingnuts that caused this but vet them very carefully. They may be the wingnuts from Texas returning home to roost!

I lived in Sacramento for 21 years. The entire time the call was for companies to locate their headquarters there as the only economic force was artificial: state government.

Finally, the the “most valuable” private company has 100 employees! Laughable for a region of nearly two million.

I should have left in 1989 when the voters voted to close a productive nuclear power plant. The mindset is clear. There’s no business like no business in central California.

A lot of those commenters are California state workers, posting on my dime. For some, ignorance is bliss; for these people, ignorance is superiority!

I have said almost identically the same thing about the People's Republic of Illinois.

“Is Californicate still considering the “exit” tax?”

Next, they’ll be building fences and walls, with armed guards and minefields to keep people from leaving.

Funny, now where have I heard of that before?

If the Bee is anything like it was 15-20 years ago when I used to read it, they simply take any opinion or letter from conservatives and throw them away. Sometimes, they may let a poorly written one, or perhaps a shill writer, say a few words. Screw them.

The media needs to viewed and treated with as much as, if not more scorn than saved for the likes of barney frank and his ilk.

Congratulations to Ron Mittelstaedt. A little slow on the uptake maybe, but better late than never.
No point throwing good money down the California toilet after bad.

I’d love to know how long it will take the advantages of being in Texas for the company to recover the $ 15 mill in relocation costs..

About 45 days or so. Probably less. In three months, this fortunate company will be reaping the financial windfall borne of the inherent wisdom of relocating to Texas.

By the time fiscal 2012 is in the books, these guys will be saying, "It was just plain stupid of us to wait so long to make such a logical, common-sense business move. Why did we wait so long, again?"

The leftists still do not understand they need taxPAYERS to support their entitlement state.

“The liberals are in major denial mode.”

They are not in denial mode - they actually believe the shiite they are spewing. This will be their eventual downfall.

The leftists still do not understand they need taxPAYERS to support their entitlement state.

There was a wonderfully insightful article about Detroit on FR not long ago.

The article pointed out that virtually every available job in Detroit was a city, county or government job of some sort -- from bus-drivers, to sewer workers to supervisors.

And that, aside from the government workers, there were virtually no other taxpayers in the city. And that, since the city had seized all the abandoned property and buildings for non-payment of taxes, the city wasn't receiving any tax revenue from these properties.

Accordingly, there were no taxpayers to pay the taxes to pay for the salaries and expenses of the government.

An object demonstration that a government does not create wealth. It only spends it...
