The Latin Rite archbishop of Baghdad says that some Christians have been reduced to dhimmitude and are being forced to pay the jizya, a special tax that permits them to practice their faith.
Christians are helplessly witnessing crime, mafia, or militia, says Archbishop Jean Benjamin Sleiman, who told Aid to the Church in Need that Christmas Mass will be celebrated during the day, for safety reasons. It will be a Christmas between fear and sturdy faith.
The prelate called upon the international community to support Iraqs government so that Iraq once again becomes a [place of] rule of law.
And from Hillary and Barack... ((((crickets)))...now if they are GAY maybe they will get a mention
Didn’t we just “invest” GT $1 Trillion and approx 100,000 military casualties to bring freedom and democracy to that country?
I’d be getting out of Iraq if I was Christian. Slaughter is on the way.
As posted previously in response to the sudden withdrawal of U.S. forces, this can only end badly. The only surprise is just how fast the fireworks have begun.
Iraq is going to deteriorate rapidly and will become a satellite nation of, and subservient to, Iran.
Certainly it is. Iraq will be a suburb of Iran shortly, I believe this Bishop places way too much faith in the Iraqui Government.
Soon the Islamics will turn on each other but before tht they will both turn on Christians and any Jews left in Baghdad.
“....some Christians have been reduced to dhimmitude and are being forced to pay the jizya, a special tax that permits them to practice their faith.”
.
This was never required under Saddam Hussein.
(Prediction: Within months we shall have to admit that, in spite of all the lives lost of our heroic military and all the billions of dollars wasted, the war in Iraq was a total squandering of our resources.)
Flame away, but if you do, tell me what changes for the better we have accomplished in Iraq and in our country since we invaded the former.
And an even greater sh!tload of them immigrated and were born in this country in the same time period.
So, who won?
It’s nowhere near over...this is just a lull in-between the shooting.
Well maybe so, but you can bet that all the money and lives we spend on Libya, Syria, and Iran will be well worth it! /s
What are we hearing from the Republicans?
I’m not only not flaming away, I agree with you. American politicians reflexively claim that they are all behind Israel, but none of them stand up for Christians in the Middle East or elsewhere, although the U.S. was historically based on Christianity, not Judaism. I want an administration which makes defense of our Christian brethren a national goal, and administration which does not squander American lives and resources building “Islamic republics.”
Not much
Do you believe Moslems in Iraq should be allowed to practice their religion?
If not, what do you think should be done about it?
Seriously?
A war of annihilation cannot be fought with tolerance/respect of an enemy and rules of engagements favoring a peaceful coexistence following the absolute destruction of an enemy who considers your life as worthless should never be involved with the subject.
We should have razed every mosque in the ME. Mecca should have been a proving ground for our latest nuclear devices. We should have done what was needed but we let cowards dictate policy. They’ll burn for it but many others will too.
Humanity will be tormented because of their cowardly decisions until the corrections to said decisions are made.
Tolerance has no place in this fight for civilization.
Hey..it’s late...I’m headed to the den.
OUT.
