The United States is poised to announce a significant donation of food aid to North Korea this week, the first definite accomplishment after months of diplomatic contacts behind the scenes. An agreement by North Korea to suspend its uranium enrichment programme will most likely follow within days. Discussions have been taking place since summer in New York, Geneva and Beijing. They have already yielded agreements by North Korea to suspend nuclear and ballistic missile testing, readmit international nuclear inspectors expelled in 2009, and resume a dialogue between North and South Korea, according to US diplomats.

South Korea needs to make contact with the North Korean military and ask them, do you REALLY want to be poor for another 30 years? End this failed experiment.

Is this the tenth year, or the twentieth, that we give food to the NORK Army, whilst the population continues to eat dirt, grass, and the few bugs that remain on the ground?
There has got to be a better way to give nutrition to the population, where the US and the free world is credited

So true. I thought that myself. The masses in NK are eating grass and dirt, starving to death. They never see this aid.- All the while, the NK’s continue build weapons of mass destruction and sell them to all our enemies.

The damned Chinese are quaking in their boots. This is what they were afraid of. This is the “nuclear” weapon that Li’l Kim held over THEIR heads. That if NK fell apart there would be an irresistable wave of refugees over the Tyumen into China.
I’ll bet the Chicoms are rushing troops to their border even as we speak.
You could sort of chart this whole interaction on a perpetual calendar. Even years, the NK’s act up, Odd years, we buy them off. They’ve been playing us for decades. We never seem to admit it, though. It’s always some “new, exciting breakthrough”.
If they want food, give them all Blackberries!
They could then join Facebook, and spend their time “raising crops & critters” in Farmville.
Or they could use them to organize a Nork Spring.
