The Message of the Season

Newt Gingrich’s Message is Anything But Political By Norma Zager

“If you are out to describe the truth, leave elegance to the tailor.” Albert Einstein.

Some women and men never learn. When a relationship is in trouble and one of the parties has told the other to take a hike, they continue pursuit.

What part of “drop dead” do they not understand?

What part of “the Palestinians want to destroy Israel” does the world not understand?

Newt Gingrich is the messenger everyone wants to shoot for stating the truth.

No one likes the truth if it interferes with a favorite delusion. Honest people are not popular.

Watching the Republican debate last evening, I had the nagging feeling there was something I was missing. A message, perhaps hidden and revealed by playing the Beatles Dr. Pepper recording backward?

If you believe in fate, whatever happens in the next election has already been written and sealed. Whose destiny it will be to govern the most special country on earth is not decided by voters, but by one vote and one alone. And there is nothing human about it.

What is important about the upcoming election is an underlying message. Forgiveness, retribution and truth have replaced the deceit and hypocrisy of hope and change.

This message has little to do with mandates or spending cuts. Quite simply it is a reality too many have all too long forgotten: the importance of truth to our lives.

Christmas and Chanukah aside from religious tenets carry a broader clarion call.

It is a season of miracles. Of forgiveness. Of dreams come true.

Gingrich is delivering a message, not about America, but of a greater good. He was attacked for the indelicacy of his words.

As if truth could ever be indelicate or inappropriate.

I applaud his wisdom at understanding this tenet. I applaud his bravery for flying in the face of misguided political correctness.

His comments the other evening on a Jewish television station and pronouncements at the recent ABC debate about the lies and deceit of Israel’s enemies was delivered for a purpose: Humility, redemption and truth.

The world sides with any enemy of the Jew. Now the United States has an anti-Israel administration at its helm when Israel faces its greatest danger.

There are no coincidences in the Kingdom of Heaven. The world is watching. Every word a candidate speaks is examined, repeated and dissected by millions of people.

Even when confronted by his attackers, Newt repeated the word. The truth about the goals of Israel’s enemies.

Other destroyers came thousands of years before in the form of the armies of Antiochus and were defeated by Judah Maccabee who restored the Temple and found the oil to burn for eight days.

The miracle of Chanukah.

And now comes another destroyer of Israel.

But the word has come down loud and clear through Speaker Gingrich…”It’s time we start telling the truth about the Middle East.”

The timing and intent are clear. God will save the Jewish people from their enemies. God will find a modern day Judah Maccabee and fend off this latest attack.

But this is only one part of the message Gingrich carries to the world. Make no mistake, the world is watching. It is about forgiveness.

He speaks of past transgressions and redemption. Admits freely to mistakes and about finding wisdom through God to rise above and seek the light and become a better man.

If the world loves a lover, they love a penitent man even more.

How could the earthly issues of spending cuts or mandates hold a candle to a man’s soul?

It is imperative this time of year we stop and heed the message of the season. Whether it is to speak the truth, or to redeem oneself for prior bad acts, this is the time of year for introspection.

How could we have forgotten? Newt’s message is a reminder on a worldly platform.

The light of truth cannot be dimmed by the darkness of evil.

The power of God to forgive and allow us to reach a higher state of being is within the grasp of every human being.

Who among us is perfect? The message of Chanukah and Christmas must never be lost if we seek a spiritual awakening.

The earthly foibles of our politicians are meaningless in the realm of the soul.

Each man must answer for his own actions.

Each man knows what is in his heart and although he may speak the words, God hears the truth.

We all are taught from a young age we leave behind little but our deeds when we shake off our earthly coil. It is only through good works we can arise; only through faith and a determination we achieve a higher purpose and purer state of being.

Newt’s message is merely a way for God to remind us of what too many of us have forgotten in the last few years of pain and lack. The only way back to riches is through the spiritual awakening. Truth and honor will make America great once more.

When we cast a vote in 2012, let it not be just for a man. Let it be for the ideals that sustain us.

Don’t overlook the true gift inside the gold-leafed wrappings. Our charge is clear: Stand for honor and humility.

Never before has this truth resonated so loudly and been required so desperately. Now is the time to act.

Truth, honor and a willingness to forgive – both oneself and others – are the clarion calls of both this season and the next election.

Better a messenger that delivers a hard truth, than a deceitful politician who lies to protect his own frightening agenda.

Newt’s honesty may be as big a changing point
as Reagan’s calling the Soviet Union “the evil empire”—a fact which nobody wanted to confront.

But, as Solzhenitsyn says, “one word of truth outweighs the world”
