Lots of news stories today about how the race to win Iowa is still wide open. The New York Times Nate Silver takes a whirl through the polling data and says any of five candidates could plausibly win. And Politicos Maggie Haberman reports that internal poll numbers from the Mitt Romney and Rick Perry camps show Newt Gingrichs lead in Iowa is indeed slipping.
Interestingly, she also quotes a veteran GOP caucus-watcher as saying:
Watch Rick Perry. Hes going for a top three finish, and that could be to Romneys expense.
Weve found ourselves wondering about Perry, whos kicking off a 42-city Iowa bus tour today. Notably, two recent Iowa polls have shown a slight uptick in Perrys support. In particular, an American Research Group (ARG) poll released yesterday (Tuesday) showed him gaining 8 points...
...And despite some intense Internet mockery, Perrys Strong ad - where he criticizes the fact that gay soldiers can serve openly in the military while children cant celebrate Christmas in school - may be generating some traction in the state.
In particular, Decoder is now wondering if the ads appeal was actually two-fold - going beyond Christian conservatives to another potentially powerful voting bloc: veterans...

very good point sockmonkey.
Amen to that! Sick to DEATH of 'PC'...
Ditto. Although I would really enjoy watching Newt dismantle the communist fraud; I don't trust Newt one bit.
Well, vote for the front runner of the three then.
That would have been funnier if it had sounded more like Rick Perry. they should get better voice imitators.
Thank you for sanity.
I hope and believe Perry will make it, but I will certainly not vote for Obama by
not voting,
writing in,
voting 3rd party
Don’t worry about it, I like to see that picture.
Go for it!!
OMG, that is so mean. I really should not have laughed.
And my dog is named Bubba.
Confrontation since Rick Perry was delivering in person a letter to Obama requesting that Obama do something which, of course, he did not do.
He hates Rick Perry.
My recollection is that the pResident actually refused to take the letter and made Gov. Perry give it to Valerie Jarrett.
Your recollection is correct. I was looking for Obama's right arm in that pic (post #22 #41) It seems to have disappeared. Notice Perry's right arm is forward to give O the letter, but O's right arm is pulled back..His left arm and fingers are extended..
Guess he is going to touch Perry to use his Vulcan mind powers on him..kinda like when Romney put his hand on Rick Perry in the one debate. I think it's some power move/dominance thing. Hey, guys keep your hands off my gov.
BTW, nanette, Blessed Advent and Merry Christmas to you.
“Oh, please a potted palm could beat Obama in a debate.”
It is generally believed that Obama beat McCain in all three debates.
A potted palm could beat McCain in a debate.
Cadavers don’t debate well.
Blessed Advent and Merry Christmas to you, too, sockmonkey! You have FReepmail.
Well, for one thing, people didn’t know Obama then; they do now.
For another thing, McCain seemed to be cautious about taking it to Obama.
Perry won’t be.

Let's hope that if Perry gets it a little Tebowing on our part will help.
