Glenn Beck’s third-party insanity
The Washington Times ^ | 12/14/2011 | Brett M. Decker

Beck said on Monday that he could support a third-party challenge if Republicans nominate former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to run for president against Barack Obama. “If I had a gun to my head, I’ll vote for Mitt Romney,” he explained. “If it’s Newt Gingrich, and there’s a third party, and it’s Ron Paul. … I might consider Ron Paul as a third party.” This position is nuts. Obviously Mr. Beck needs to generate attention for his new GBTV venture since giving up his popular Fox News platform, but promoting ideas that would lead to an Obama second term is reckless and bad for America.

Make no mistake about it, a third-party presence from the right in the 2012 election would bring about conservative defeat and marginalize the movement for years. Recent history shows that splitting up a party leads to ruination for that party and its main constituent components

If Beck is such a huge friend of Israel, which he is always trumpeting, how could he support Ron Paul for a third party run?

Going off the rails? Or off the wagon?

Naw, it's probably just dry drunk syndrome.

I can’t listen to Beck anymore. He’s turned me off so I’ve turned him off.

A third party entry would GUARANTEE Obama’s re-election. PERIOD.

I don’t know which part annoys me more: the delusions of grandeur or the insane fake laughter.

After telling us how dangerous Obama was for 4 years, he now thinks it’s safe to goof around with a third party?

Glenn Beck will profit immensely with his gold and apocolypse supply sales if Obama wins.

I’m glad he’s not on FOX anymore,,,I’m surprised the local radio station still carries him.

The simple fact is that Newt Gingrich isn’t going to be president.

God help me I’d actually consider voting for Paul over Gingrich myself.

I am probably voting Paul in the primary. I'd maybe vote Bachmann if she had some momentum. However, I will vote the GOP candidate in the general election.

I am really sickened that at this point in our history at the crossroads we are at -- we don't have anyone willing or able to pick up the pieces.

We are in a bad spot. It's looking more and more like we are going to be global citizens in some Scandinavian model world on steroids.

GB has come to believe his own press. He sees himself as a “progressive hunter” and king maker. The ONLY guy who “gets it” He has become a farcical drama queen. I dropped him and I listen to Boortz who says what you don’t want to hear.

God might forgive you, I can't know His thoughts, but your grand chilrun will never forgive you.

Goes to show you: he’s come completely unglued.

I’m no Fox defender but I’d bet that Roger Ailes told him something similar like: “Pull yourself together. We can’t have anymore unstable hosts on FNC. Geraldo is bad enough.”

Or something like that.

Principles before party.

My question to you is how can you in good conscience vote for a serial adulterer, who has supported extreme left wing causes in recent years and who says he wants to keeps parts of obamacare?

For some of us, if the GOP forces another progressive republican down our throats we will have no choice but to look elsewhere. Many real conservatives sat out in 2008 because they couldn’t stomach voting for McCain. People want to participate in the process and help bring about the election of real, principled, solid conservatives. The GOP establishment has other plans....we will make other plans as well. Many of us are saddened that the GOP no longer cares about conservative principles.

Instead of whining about what Glenn beck would do if newt is nominated, how about working hard to get a real conservative like michelle bachman nominated instead.

I think you are right. Beck would enjoy the personal advantages and profit of an Obama second term.

How could he be so apocalyptic with the GOP in control?

Beck has surrounded himself with nothing but cheerleaders and has lost touch with reality.
