Is anyone else having flashbacks to 1979 and Jimmy Carter's inept dealing with Iran?
They have one of our drones and all Baraq can do is ask them nicely to return it. Now they're threatening to blockade M.E. oil. I swear if we get another 4 years we're done, and I'm not convinced a change of administration can fix all the damage.

The Saudi’s might have something to say about that.
If Iranian ships start moving to the Straits how many think the Saudis will do nothing?

Just a thought. Wouldn’t it be easier to close the Straits if the initial move was uncontested?

I’m having flashbacks to when Raghead Komani tried that ... We said “knock yourself out and see what happens” he decided against it ... with the coward n chief we have now, it’s a coin toss.

That’s alright. We don’t need oil from Iran anyway. The economic experts have kept us informed about how China collapsed five years ago and has been back in the Stone Age since then. We’re also manufacturing more per capita than ever and have no trade deficits. We all feel good.

Perfect time for the US Navy to drill on keeping the Strait open.

According to this site, Iran has considerably more firepower than Saudi Arabia:
http://www.globalfirepower.com/
Iran is ranked 12th in the world, while Saudi Arabia comes in at 26th.

After kissing the ring, the Saudi’s have the US Navy on their side, eh?

US Naval leaders want no part of a war in those straits
Carriers are too vulnerable to shore mounted missiles

Sounds like a good time for a DoD report on how long it would take Iran’s economy and military to return to pre-Islamic levels if an accident destroyed Iran’s main gasoline refining complex during a close-the-Straits-of-Hormuz exercise. Two weeks?
