The European Union, and Euro-socialism in general, is a failed experiment

Time to let the whole thing slither down the sewer of history. First of all it is more and more clear that Europe should have let Greece default and instead of pumping bank money via Greece, they should simply have shored up those banks that would take losses.

The banks would still take a haircut, but come out on the other side w/o Greece.

Naturally this would remove Greece from the Eurozone and it would have to use the Euro or the US $ (without policy control over them) or renew its own currency.

Secondly, setting up an emergency fund is akin to a field of dreams Build it and they will come to dip into it. Instead, each country should build its own emergency funds, not depend on other countries.

Thirdly, you cannot trust other countries, esp. those in the south, to be fiscally responsible.

“Time to let the whole thing slither down the sewer of history.”

Ditto NATO. A once noble organization with a noble mission, which has deteriorated into Murder Inc. for transnational globalists.

The European Union failed because of Euro-socialism.

Agreed on NATO. It’s reason to exist died with the USSR. A new alliance should have been forged with the former Soviet Republics if we ever worried about a resurgent Russia. Western Europe became Germany’s problem.

As they say, all you need to know about how topsy-turvy the world is:

The head of the European Central Bank is Italian and the Pope is German.

“The European Union failed because of Euro-socialism.”

Yep. (And now the productive countries, e.g., Germany, are paying a heavy price for this failure.)

The leftists all shriek with horror anytime somebody calls Obama a “Socialist” or a “Marxist”- but if Capitalism isn’t the answer (according to the economic illiterate himself), then what exactly is it that we are supposed to term what he believes?

Europe must re-organize around capitalist ideals—the United States of Europe just didn’t work—It needs to be an Empire with one state in charge to dictate things and control the economy. Its that or a confederation of free states.

What history and current events are teaching us is that socialism requires Capitalism to survive. It is not an economic system that can exist independently, and it is not a symbiotic system that is necessary for Capitalism’s survival. It is a parasite that feeds on Capitalism. The way to keep socialism alive is to keep it small, while keeping Capitalism strong and healthy. Capitalism can survive an annoying tick or two, but a belly full of worms kills the host.

If you call ruling over the entire EU, with most of its countries acting as your sycophants, and making a $12 billion profit off the crisis at the same time "paying a heavy price", then let's all pay that price, yes?

It's not enough to be "productive" to be vindicated. Soviet Russia was "productive" under Stalin, as Red China today continues to be "productive"; but are they beneficent or maleficent? Besides, how does Germany go from the "sick man of Europe" to being so "productive" within a bit over half a decade . . . ?

Oh, it's that already. Germany's doing precisely that right now before all our eyes. But they're sticking with their social market economy, thank you very much, because the evil "Anglo-Saxon capitalist model" is to them what failed—even though it was the ECB's manipulation of interest rates that caused the big financial crisis of 2008. (Since we are Anglo-Saxons, that's racism against us, BTW.) So they're never going to "reorganize around capitalist ideals", ever.

Don't ever ask for dictators to appear. They won't disappear when you want them to. The EU is not democratic or republican and never was—that's another reason why they're a problem.

"What history and current events are teaching us is that socialism requires Capitalism to survive. It is not an economic system that can exist independently..."

That's a great point- I bet a lot of people have never thought of it that way.

It's very analogous to unions and big government agencies in the US that feed off the private sector in order to survive. Without it, they would crumble almost instantly.

And the communists (like 0bama) truly believe that the reason that communism hasn’t failed is because of the unprovable hypothesis that it would work if everyone in the whole world were communist.

If only the bourgeoisie were eliminated completely,
communism could usher in the golden age as promised.

They’ll keep working toward that goal, and no “failures” can ever disprove their belief.

They are likely heading into a recession (largely caused by the failures of their socialist neighbors), and the possible demise of the Euro will likely slam them even harder. I'm not holding them, or their government, out as any sort of model that should be followed obviously, and I think their ways have been heavy-handed in the crisis (and I think David Cameron was right to say no to that mess)... but what else do you expect them to say when they are a leading producer, and many of their European neighbors are mooches?
