Well, I think Rand Paul is right, and I question the legitimacy of these self-appointed tea party leaders to be dictating who is or is not worthy of tea party support.
Can they refute Rand Paul’s article:
Probably not.
They just DID. Rand Paul is campaigning for his daddy. Numerous polls posted on FR have shown a lot of Tea Party folks support Newt.

Newt's certainly not unapologetically in support of the individual mandate and abandoned the concept just as the Heritage Foundation did. Romney insists it's viable at the state level.
Rand Paul conveniently uses the lower case 'c' conservative on Scozzafava's opponent when he was actually not a Republican but a Conservative Party candidate. It's a slight of hand to make it seem Newt chose a RINO over a conservative Republican candidate rather than supporting the Republican nominee over another party's choice.
Newt has his own responses on the the individual mandate, TARP, lobbying and Freedie Mac, even Scozzafava
According to some polls, Romney gets little or no Tea Party support, and "Mr. Tea Party", Ron Paul gets even less.
Tea Party copnservatives can think for themselves.
They need neither a self-appointed Tea Party candidate nor a US Senator to tell them whom to support.
I question the legitimacy of the Pauls to expect automatic support.
