“Have you not noticed that there are plenty of conservative women on this site alone who will vote for Newt?”

I'm sure there are, just as I know there are a half-dozen or so of mrs riverdawg’s conservative female friends who have told her they will only vote down ballot if Newt is the Republican nominee. As for myself, I will vote for him (or almost anyone except Ron Paul) if he is the nominee. But it's really a sad state of affairs that he is apparently the best the party can do this year against Obama. And I worry that he is simply too toxic to many independents (men and women) to win the general election.

All of us live in relatively limited spheres, and can speak only of those we know personally. For every woman who says she’ll ‘never’ vote for Newt, there are others who will join that bandwagon.

I think the passage of time has helped Newt. He was badly damaged back in the mid to late 90s, first by the media, then by himself. If, in politics, a days is an eternity, think of what 12 years is.

There are millions of ‘12 voters who were children when Newt engineered the ‘94 takeover of Congress. In fact, a 2-day old infant on the day of the ‘94 election will be eligible to vote for Newt in ‘12. Tempus fugit. At least the younger people I know enjoy him, and his professorial ways. They will listen and they will absorb. Many fell for Obama in ‘08 and won’t be so easily fooled again.

Thanks Sub-Driver. This is the Politico hit piece. Ezra Klein's shrill shilling is here:

If Newt just gets his pant legs pressed with a really sharp crease, Brooks will be drooling all over him.

Tom DeLay was one of Abramoff's whores:

Tom DeLay: Human Scum

He was also part of the whole K Street "Turning Republicans into bigger Whores than the Democrats" program.

So, you think citing a Brian Ross story revealing that Congressmen go on junkets is news to anybody?

You were just looking for an excuse to use the words whore and scum in association with former Majority Whip DeLay, who is a far better man than you.

Ramesh Ponnuru, the National Review editor who recently announced his support for Romney, described the consensus on Gingrich as overwhelming.

Oh I see. It's not really conservative pundits, but more RINOs against RINOs. Gotcha.

Aren't “pundits” supposed to get something right once in a while? These guys probably would have bet on the Japs in WWII.

There's a hundred other stories out there. Unfortunately they are on places like CNN, NPR, etc.

If I posted those you might have posted something like: You want me to believe that commie-crap they have on CNN, NPR, etc.?

All you have to do is read Tom DeLay's own book where he pats himself on the back for the K Street crapola which magnified whatever croneyism that was already suffocating what little concern there is for freedom in DC.

He was an opportunist, plain and simple. There are those who still like him because he was OUR opportunist. The same folks that still like Rove.

No, that is is not true. The ABC story you cited was done by the openly-leftist reporter Brian Ross, but story itself revealed nothing bad about Tom DeLay and you posted it as if it did while calling Tom Delay scum. Scum like the MSM outlets try to get away with such maneuvers, but it does not pass the test of thoughtful conservatives.

“All you have to do is read Tom DeLay’s own book where he pats himself on the back for the K Street crapola which magnified whatever croneyism that was already suffocating what little concern there is for freedom in DC.”

In another sneaky maneuver you lie about Tom DeLay’s book with completely unsupported mis-characterization of what the book actually reveals and is all about.

“He was an opportunist, plain and simple. There are those who still like him because he was OUR opportunist. The same folks that still like Rove.”

More gratuitous assertions and name-calling on your part. Thanks for bringing up by name the wing of the party that you support, because with the pathetic attempt to associate Tom DeLay with the wing of the party that left Tom Delay swinging in the wind, you show that you underestimate the ability of conservatives to understand the politics of what was done to Tom Delay.

By the way, your reference to ex-Congressman Tom Delay in the past tense reveals something you will be disappointed to learn: There is life even after closet liberals have helped open liberals stab you in the back. Mr. Delay continues to do the good work with the upcoming generation of conservatives while appealing the ridiculously political Austin redistricting payback-conviction, and continues to live a productive and fulfilling life.
