Sacramento - US prison guards have shot some prisoners while breaking up a fight involving 50 inmates at a California prison, corrections officials say. Inmates stabbed each other during the fight, and some employees suffered minor injuries as they intervened. The outbreak was in a maximum security area of the California State Prison, Sacramento. About 50 inmates were involved and an unknown number of staff were injured, said Terry Thornton, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. In California most prisoners are Mexican. There are so many that they are divided into two groups, Nortenos and Surenos (northerners and southerners). The Mexicans like to kill each other, just like they do back home in Mexico. The other groups, including the blacks are heavily outnumbered. I bet this riot involved the two Mexican gangs going at each other. Celebrate diversity. /s

It had been called Folsom State Prison for years. The opening scene in the Jonny Cash movie shows the sign for "Repressa" the name for the city where located.
I was chatting with the mayor of Folsom once. He said, that having the prison there relieved them from building low income housing units.
The Folsom school system was wild, with prisoner children.
Sounds like the intervened way too early.....

I was wondering the same thing. Lived in Sacramento for a lot of years and never saw a prison there - HA!!!
Not that they couldn’t fill one close to the Capitol building! Made to order for politicians.
When was that? I live in Folsom. If it wasn't already famous you would never know there was a prison here. It's the most upscale suburb in Sacramento county. Prisoners families sure don't live here.

That Folsom closed. This is called New Folsom, not far from Downtown Sac.

Seems to me the guards were too quick to react. Sometimes it's best to let the children work these things out amongst themselves.
