Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry today received the endorsement of the president of a statewide pro-life group in New Hampshire, the location of the second GOP primary election battleground.
Kurt Wuelper, the president of New Hampshire Right to Life, which is not affiliated with the National Right to Life Committee, endorsed Perry this afternoon as the best pro-life candidate to take on pro-abortion President Barack Obama in next year’s presidential election.
“I know that Gov. Perry unequivocally believes that life begins at conception and does not waiver in his protection of the unborn, unlike some self-professed pro-life candidates,” said Wuelper. “But more than just talking the talk, Rick Perry has shown he is a man of strong faith and strong action.”
He added: “He has a proven consistent record of protecting innocent human life and has signed more pro-life legislation than any governor in Texas history, including the Parental Notification Act, the Parental Consent Act, the Prenatal Protection Act, and the Woman’s Right to Know Act. That’s why I am supporting him for President.”
“In Texas, Gov. Perry successfully de-funded the nation’s leading abortion provider, Planned Parenthood,” Wuelper added. “His courage and convictions are just what America needs right now as it tries to find its way through these tough times. I am so very proud to support Gov. Perry for president and encourage anyone who cares about fostering a culture of life in America to consider doing the same.”
Perry said he appreciated the endorsement.
“I am honored to have Kurt’s support and the support of so many other pro-life Americans,” said Gov. Perry. “As governor of Texas, I signed more pro-life legislation than any other governor in history. Our nation needs a president committed to protecting the rights of innocent unborn children.”
Perry’s defunding of Planned Parenthood resulted in the shutdown of 12 Planned Parenthood clinics in Texas. Since 2005, Gov. Perry has signed budgets that include millions for pregnancy resource centers and other pro-life agencies that assist pregnant women.
The governor also signed a ban on late-term abortions and a law that requires a doctor to perform a sonogram on an expectant mother before performing an abortion. Additionally, every Texas budget signed by Gov. Perry prohibits funding of abortions by tax dollars. Perry has an extensive pro-life record in Texas and has received top grades from pro-life groups there. He has called for de-funding Planned Parenthood nationally as well.

Perry or Santorum.
No Newt. No Mitt.
Good choice. Head and shoulders above Romney, Newt or Paul.
Amazing, considering the fact that Perry is pro-choice for states on abortion, and he makes exceptions for the children of rape and incest victims.
Let them know what you think:
Perhaps they will address your objections to their decision.
Well, I have others as well. Like Perry’s promise to sign immoral, unconstitutional “fetal pain” legislation, for example.
Waste of time talking to these “pro-life” industry “leaders.” They don’t listen. Too wrapped up in playing the Republican’s losing game.
Agreed! :)
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.

I've heard all this from you before. You'd rather bash pro-life conservatives than go after the true pro-abort crowd. I've always thought you were really a closet lefty. HA!
Ha, ha.

yawn
New Hampshire is irrelevant. It is a media event that matters not.
Down south we pay no attention to left wing Republican Yankees
Sorry to bore you with the first principles of the republic.
Typical Republican.
I did not understand Perry to make that statement. I believe what he suggested was that after a woman is raped or the victim of incest, she should immediately have a D&C(Dilation and Curettage) procedure performed. Since pregnancy does not always result after a rape, this is more of a birth control procedure and is not an abortion at this stage. Perry did not suggest this procedure after a woman has been determined to be pregnant. There is a difference in preventing pregnancy rather than destroying a pregnancy. I'm not sure, but I have read that pregnancy can occur hours after rape instead of instantly. That's why it is so important to report a rape and go to the hospital immediately. I believe this is Perry's position, so he is still pro life and not pro choice.
Thanks shield.
In other words, you're inclined to vote for a guy named Rick. ;-)
Nice distortion there, EV.
What do you mean by the statement that Governor Perry is pro-choice for the states on abortion. What exactly has he said that indicates that he thinks states should be “pro-choice” on abortion in the sense that “pro-choice” has become a code phrase for allowing abortions?
