Who gets driven out of political races on unfounded accusations? Think if the skanky drunk woman who lives down the street from me accused Romney of an affair it would drive him out? Think if some random dude decided to accuse Bachmann of an affair it would drive her out? No, because they would be able to dispute the charges so convincingly that the allegations would be laughed at.
No one drops out of a political race if allegations made against them can be adequately disputed. Remember the affair charges made against Nikki Haley by some blogger in 2010? Did they drive her out of the race? No, she shot them down and kept shooting them down anytime such charges turned up. Cain's problem is he couldn't defend himself. He couldn't defend himself because the accusations either had truth to them, or other aspects to the story would have emerged that would have been equally damaging.
