SNIPPET: "From a compound in Lahore, Pakistan to a home in the quiet Brad Drive neighborhood in Rockville, there's growing concern about the fate of kidnapped American contractor Warren Weinstein.
"It's just a Byzantine world, it's not straight up", says Chis Meyers, a neighbor and a widely travelled retired marine.
"There's people who are going to pick out Americans", he adds.
Authorities say Weinstein, 70, an industrial development expert, employed by Arlington-based J.E. Austin associates was kidnapped around 3:45 Saturday morning Pakistani time.
Police say eight to ten men approached Weinstein's Lahore house on a ploy.
"They had come up to the house", says Rockville neighbor Elsie Sullivan.
"They wanted to share food, and when they got in, they grabbed him."
Pakistani Police say Weinstein was forcefully taken away.
Reports say his abductors had tied up Winstein's three guards, and pistol-whipped his driver.
Landscapers working at Weinstein's Rockville home, which he shares with his wife Elaine, are concerned for the couple, who often travel together."

Not good. Frankly you could not pay me enough to work in Pakistan today. I’d rather go to Iraq, Afghanistan, or Saudi Arabia.
Doubly bad if Mr Weinstein is Jewish....
And don't watch for help from Barry. He ain't comin'.
I’m betting the name alone is enough to hang him.
The response by the US will be interesting, since we have been meddling and killing in Paki land.
“Doubly bad if Mr Weinstein is Jewish...”
If he is I couldn’t imagine why he was there. Hope he gets out of it OK either way.
what kind of naive fool goes to live and work in islamic hellhole, with a name like “Weinstein”? Where has he been for the past 20 years?
Correct. Things like last name or a passport which has Israeli documentation on it are enough to be branded a “nefarious individual” by the Pak government. Usually they’ll ask the person to leave. Guess things have deteriorated.
I don’t think I would go where I needed 3 guards around to make it safe to live there.
Especially three guards who allow people to walk up asking for food and end up being tied up and ignored.
The first people I would question would be the 3 guards.
Were they in on it? Were they Pakistani guards?
Americans should stay out of Pakistan.
Anybody named Weinstein working in Pakistan is applying for a Darwin Award from the outset.
So, Mr. Weinstein, the money was that important? Hope it was worth it.
Doesn’t matter if he is or is not Jewish. They will consider him Jewish, period.
Exactly.

“Al-Qaeda releases Warren Weinstein hostage video”

SNIPPET: “An American aid worker abducted by al-Qaeda in Pakistan last year has pleaded with President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to meet his captors demands for the release of prisoners in order to save his life, in a video released on (September 12) by the militant groups media arm. In the video, Warren Weinstein, who was kidnapped in the central Pakistani city of Lahore last August, says the Obama administration has shown little interest in his case and then appeals to Netanyahu, one Jew to another, to please intervene on my behalf.”
