Local Letter to the Editor (Hate Mail)
The Independant ^ | 11.26.11 | Arthur Balcom

Posted on 11/26/2011 4:46:50 PM PST by Chickensoup

This is a link to the paper's website although the letter is not published on the web:

To the Editor:

I really enjoyed Doug Davis' editorial. His tongue-in-cheek approach to the Republican Party was perfect. I have always said that you have to be one of the following to vote Republican: cruel, ignorant, stupid, naive, greedy, or traditional (one or both parents were Republican).

Education reduces biases and many Republicans just prefer to stay mean and thoughtless. It is easier to stay in the past than to learn new ideas.

Arthur Balcom Windham (Maine)

Kind note from local (apparently) environmental guy. I find it amazing that this level of hatred and ignorance is tolerated by his neighbors and employer.

Tolerated? They probably share his hate. I have been to Windham Maine believe it or not. There isn't much there in the way of local talent.

Sometimes I think it is important to look at the politics of hate in one’s own backyard. We say we dont understand Rwanda or Rhodesia or Bosnia but this is the kind of dehumanizing hate that makes your neighbor into your executioner.

And why would any sane person go to Windham, Maine? Sort of like vacationing in Detroit.

>>> Thomas Jefferson

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
>>> Thomas Jefferson

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.
>>> Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
>>> Thomas Jefferson

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
>>> Thomas Jefferson

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.
>>> Thomas Jefferson

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
>>> Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
>>> Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.
>>> Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive
the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

I wish we could get this out to everyone!!!

I know a guy who lived in Windham, Maine for years.

Five years ago, he moved to another Maine town not far from me. He’s very conservative.

There’s no shortage of libs and other moonbats in southern Maine, however.....after all, it’s close to Massachusetts.

The same idiot who would rather attack us Fundies, Catholics and religious Jews vs. the Muslim death cult. Spends money on the SPCA and Emily’s List, saving cats and murdering babies. Hates Capitalism but adores a false economic system that cost 100 million lives.

There is no cure for the smug Progressive, only when he us trampled by the Socialism he gallantly supported will he learn. Many of these tools will die early because of ObamaCare in 10 or 20 years. Open borders and free trade will kill employment.

They will never learn, they are fundamentally self-loathing and suicidal. They are Kamikaze Utopians.

Hold on I live in Windham Maine! It's great here. It's one of the more conservative towns in Southern Maine. Sebago lake is a very nice summer destination. Very few people read the Independent... I've picked it up maybe three times in the four years I've lived in this town, and it seemed rather benign to me.

Intolerance and hatred are to be found everywhere. But, I am convinced that the most intolerant and prejudice people are found on the left side of American politics. Tell that to the next Dem you talk to, just for giggles.

Are you joking?

Windham Maine is where one of the nicest and largest lakes in Maine resides. Detroit? Windham is a lovely area filled with camps, woods, walking trails, and is very pleasant.

Perhaps you are mistaken
