(Reuters) - Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords served a Thanksgiving meal on Thursday to Air Force personnel in her first constituent event since she was shot in the head in January, her office said.
Giffords dished out turkey with tongs as she stood between Brigadier General Jon Norman and her husband Mark Kelly, said Giffords' spokesman Mark Kimble.
The event at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base was expected to draw more than 400 people, mostly U.S. Air Force personnel, retired service members and their families.
Giffords was shot on January 8 at an event for constituents at a Tucson supermarket. College dropout Jared Loughner has been charged in the shooting spree that killed six people and wounded 13, including Giffords.
She is living in Houston, where she is receiving therapy. She arrived in Tucson on Tuesday to spend the holiday with friends and family.

Give me a break! Who came up with this load? The commie ‘RATS are really going after the military and NASCAR vote (the “bitter clingers”) this year. I wonder what’s up. Their internal polls must be worse than anybody has imagined.
No need to drag grandma's corpse through the streets. She and her fellow horizontal residents likely vote several times the straight (so to speak) Demonrat party ticket in several Chicago precincts and elsewhere already, whether grandma ever lived there or not.

She wouldn’t even talk to us before the shooting, until finally forced to hold three real town halls (as opposed to “Congress on the Corner” or highly-controlled phone meetings — that her staff lied about too, claiming those were townhalls).
Now, she can “write” books, pose for “People,” do interviews, but not talk to her employers, we the taxpayers. Ever.
Sick minds think alike.
She should retire but they will run her just to keep the seat safely in dem hands.
Even though the majority in her district say she shouldn’t.
Also while you were marching in Broward my family and I were at the Supervisor of elections in W. Palm Beach doing likewise.

Did she at least ask them if they wanted "toast" with their turkey?
Did I read somewhere that someone else had thrown their hat in the ring? Another dem and his fellow dems were aghast that he would think of running against giffords?
This is an injustice for her constituents. They are not being represented. I know someone who had a TBI and it was not pretty. The only part of her left that was her true self was her body. Her mind and everything she was before her injury was gone.
She suffered through a remarkable event and survived. That doesn't make a difference to her ultra liberal environmental nonsense. I wish her the best, physically. But that and this is where my compassion for her ends.

For awhile, there was an online petition circulating to replace her (even with another Dem, just someone to “represent” us).
Boy, you should have seen the leftist media have a witch hunt with that one. They all but threatened to go to the signers’ houses, hunt them down in their businesses, do everything they could to destroy their lives. All for signing a petition.

Geez you people are harsh. The woman has been through hell, who gives a damn what political party she belongs to? For crying out loud if if were your mother, daughter, or sister having a chance to get out and relive some small part of their old life would you like this kind of commentary?
you don’t live in AZ, no dem has any shot at winning any state wide office after the way the fed.gov has treated our state over the last 4 years. they may win their gerrymandered districts, but that’s about it.

Given her leanings I prefer her NOT voting in Congress.
I know her district well, and she does not stand a shot in Hell of winning the Senate seat. As for running for Congress again, if she can stand up and say a few words without drooling the Democrats will run her. It is common knowledge that her staff will do anything to keep her in Washington. Who wants to give up that payday? She barely kept her seat last time, and everyone in southern Arizona is waiting to see how the districts will be rejiggered before placing their bets.

Giffords went on the local PBS station to spew hate about the people protesting her policies, so, yes, some of us are “jaded.” Giffords called CommieCare protestors “angry mobs” and accused us, just like her puppeteer Pelosi — falsely — of “carrying”swastikas.”
These are but two tiny examples. She wasn’t the saint the Pravda press painted her to be.
One really has to either live here or have followed things closely to understand the fascist/Communist sort of person we’re dealing with. One certainly can’t believe the tripe they’re replaying in the media.
Giffords declared war on ordinary, patriotic Americans, so I’m very sorry that it’s hard to muster up enthusiasm for her to return to office and continue acting that way. Or, to fall over backwards and kiss the ground that she’s “serving” turkey. She never served the bulk of her constituents on CommieCare or many other issues, only a very narrow leftist clique.
She also continually claimed she was afraid — so should have requested a sheriff’s presence, or private police protection, instead of endangering all those people.
