Perry’s reintroduction continues
RedState ^ | 22nd November, 2011 | Dave O Connor

The telegenic Texan took two steps forward sitting in the “center chair” on Fox Monday evening. One step backward too alas, but more about that in a bit.

Gov Perry was relaxed and alert as he fielded a variety of questions. He smartly used his answers to remind conservatives why they should consider him.

This is a man who is a quick study and a formidable politician. Instead of just Texas this and Texas that he pointed out that the Lone Star state all by its lonesome is the 13th largest economy in the world. A nice way to pivot into what will be the big issue in 2012 without sounding provincial.

Zero-based foreign aid will not only warm conservative innards, it will play well as part of the spending argument. And he noted the UN can expect a zero-budget starting point. Long overdue and just hearing it made me smile. Asked about Pakistan’s aid Perry demonstrated…gasp..nuance. He noted Pakistan is a difficult problem not the least because it has nukes. Nice answer.

Perry showed another vote-winning quality when he took ownership of his infamous “no heart” comment regarding those who disagree with in-state tuition for illegals in Texas. That comment, he said, was just wrong; and added that his wife gave him hell for it after the debate. But he didn’t leave it there. He promised the southern border will be closed period a year after he takes office should he be elected. A panel member asked how this would affect the GOP’s Hispanic vote. Perry’s reply was politically astute to say the least. The Hispanics in this country are concerned like the rest of us with jobs and the economy. Closing the border, he added, will be understood as a matter of national security.

Baloney.

Gingrich almost single-handedly was responsible for the effective end of Clinton’s communism.

Recall Clinton has all the marbles. Every branch.

Just like Obama started out.

Gingrich ended that. Just like the Tea Party.

Yes. That comparison is 100% deliberate.

If you disagree, please explain your reasoning.

Thank you.

FReegards.

This is down right idiotic. I have lived in Texas for the entire time Rick Perry has been governor. If you don’t think he has a Conservative record, you don’t know the meaning of the word Conservative. And for those of you who only see one issue, you are working to reelect Barack Obama. I deserve better but you do not. You refuse to see beyond the tip of your nose.

People keep ignoring the obvious.
Texas is adding jobs. Texas is cutting debt, Texas is at the forefront of the border wars.

Perry has had three terms as governor to secure the border------the governor controls the Ntl Guard----Perry can order as many troops as he needs WRT securing the border.

Perry refuses to acknoledge this fact---keeps making up more excuses for his monumental failures.

At least two of the most savage drug cartels are operating in Texas. In Austin, not far from Perry in the state capitol, the savage Los Zetas have established a drug distribution stronghold----without interference from Texas L/E.

================================================

Perry is oblivious to that fact that voters are wary of a losing candidate with money to burn. Perry’s deluge of Fox ads News cost him $975,000; he’s spent $2.8 million on ads the last few weeks alone, begging for support in Iowa, NH and SC.......far more than any other candidate in the race.

Perry has engineered the losingest strategy in presidential politics, to date: personally insulting and demeaning the people he needs to vote for him; cueing his supporters to insult and demean them; showing his contempt for the process. And he has the gall to ask for support?

Perry’s three ads — a bio spot, an anti-Obama spot, and even one stupidly characterizing himself as an “outsider” —— are ludicrous.

============================================

All of Perry’s moves show his utter contempt for voters and for the American electoral process. Long past time for a candidate polling in single digits to wake up to reality and go home.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For Perry-—it’s been downhill ever since the debates. (1) Perry has been raising money for years to run; he entered the race with three PACs (that we know of)......teeming with money.

(2) Perry cunningly did not actually enter the first contest-—the Iowa Straw Poll——instead he calculatedly manipulated the vote from Texas. That was supposed to take him over the top. He got a pathetic 700 write-ins——but there he was front and center, posing in front of Iowa banners-—waving the victory sign——as if he was the winner.

Perry stomped all over Bachmann’s first place win with 4000 votes. MB worked long and hard and spent money in the state.”Team player” Perry threw his hat in the very day Bachmann won-—stopping her hard-earned momentum.

=====================================================

Due to his debating fiascos, Perry went from top dog to gutter turd in no time flat.

I watched the left mobilize against Gingrich.

I know he was the very first target of Alinsky style “politics of personal destruction”, after Judge Bork.

I know Gingrich is on our side.

PS: What is it with Perry supporters, and shouting?

:D

It is not the job of the Gov of Texas to secure the national border.

But he tries regardless off the federal governments interference.

You seem to have mis-spelled “coming from the Perry campaign”.

Just trying to help.

Actually it comes straight from Newt’s own gazillion “nonprofits” for the most part. Good lord, he’s made a huge fortune off the taxpayers for his many “not lobbying” orgs.

Where is your criticism of Brewer and Martinez, or Jerry Brown?

Larry/Liz....what have you done to pressure your congressmen to secure the border.

We Texans have spent over $400 million the past few years to secure the border which, as you know, is the federal government's responsibility. When states have tried to pass laws they are in turn sued by the Obama administration.

So tell us specifically what you have done to secure the border except sit at a computer and bad-mouth Texas, Texans and our governor?

Why should we protect your sorry rear?

It never ceases to amaze that you people who live in non-border states think you have all the answers and that we aren't as concerned as you ignorant baffoons are!

One of them actually admitted yesterday that they just plain hate Texas.
I forget who it was, but it was some yahoo that has Jerry Brown as a governor.
