The Hillary Moment (Out of the pan and into the fire?)
WSJ ^ | November 21, 2011 | PATRICK H. CADDELL AND DOUGLAS E. SCHOEN

Posted on 11/21/2011 8:14:08 AM PST by yoe

When Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson accepted the reality that they could not effectively govern the nation if they sought re-election to the White House, both men took the moral high ground and decided against running for a new term as president. President Obama is facing a similar reality—and he must reach the same conclusion.

He should abandon his candidacy for re-election in favor of a clear alternative, one capable not only of saving the Democratic Party, but more important, of governing effectively and in a way that preserves the most important of the president's accomplishments. He should step aside for the one candidate who would become, by acclamation, the nominee of the Democratic Party: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Never before has there been such an obvious potential successor—one who has been a loyal and effective member of the president's administration, who has the stature to take on the office, and who is the only leader capable of uniting the country around a bipartisan economic and foreign policy.

Certainly, Mr. Obama could still win re-election in 2012. Even with his all-time low job approval ratings (and even worse ratings on handling the economy) the president could eke out a victory in November. But the kind of campaign required for the president's political survival would make it almost impossible for him to govern—not only during the campaign, but throughout a second term.

Put simply, it seems that the White House has concluded that if the president cannot run on his record……..

Mrs. Clinton is just as Socialistic as Obama, not as Marxist but also a student of Saul Ainsky and certainly not in love with our Constitution either; she prefers the ("Third Way") of governing.

As with all things pertaining to Socialism, this too has failed. Hillary would also have to answer to the Congressional Progressive Caucus...America's preeminent Congressional Communists. What Mr. Caddell says is true enough but he leaves out the WHAT IS GOOD FOR AMERICA part...Progressive Party (what was the Democrat Party)is not good for America...it is Socialism.

Again they are selecting our candidates for us; both the elites of the right and the left. Do not overlook this. They have been weakening these candidates for a long time now. They have no chance with Obama and they know it. They really have no chance with Hillary; but put her in semi deep freeze in hopes people will forget she works and has the same goals as Obama.

It’s a real shame they did not thrown Hillary and Bill the rapist in jail where they really belong.

I guess Caddell dropped the first shoe.

The Democrats are stuck with Obama. The ramifications of pushing him aside will greatly alienate black voters. Voters that they absolutely need to win election.

Obama is simply too much of a narcissist to step aside anyway.

Not to mention that Boss Moochelle isn't going to give up 4 more years of queen-sized perks willingly.

I don’t think Johnson’s decision was based on the thought that he might not be able to “effectively govern.” He realized that he was facing serious primary challenges from his own party. I think he hated Bobby Kennedy so much, the thought of losing the nomination to him was more than he could bear. It’s also possible that Johnson knew his health was failing, and he might not live long enough to finish a second term.

Obama’s has a big ego, and an accommodating national press corps. He is sure he will win.

These two guys are smart and usually perceptive. It is disappointing that neither understands The One, who will do anything to get reelected. Fraud, threats, violence, treason, lies, bribes. Anything.

Its like.. Caddell and Schoen never heard of Cloward-Piven before..
How do you get this insulated?..

Answer.. You don’t.. Democrats are as dumb as they want to be.. Actually the republican presidential candidates seem to have never heard of Cloward-Piven EITHER...

Almost a total blackout of this concept.... this meme..
You know.............. a whitewash...

It must be really really really IMPORTANT...
to be so totally bottled up like this..
Even Donald Trump is afraid to mention it..
Scared shitless...

I am skeptical that LBJ ever took a step up to a curb to take any moral high ground unless it was a deceptive, manipulative ploy.

The oligarchy either told him to step down or he stepped down to avoid the risk of prison or he was just ill & tired of all the hassle and charades.

Obama is going to react by trying to burn the country down.

Even if he wanted to step down, the White House Posse wouldn't let him - all those hangers-on have gotten quite used to lavish taxpayer-funded vacations and other perks.

Get ready for Democratic civil war.

Hillary is just as bad as Obama.

She is an Alinskiite Communist, who tried to impose Hillarycare on the nation, giving a precedent to make things easier for Obama.

She is a Muslim lover—literally, since she has a Muslim terrorist girlfriend. She is on record for cursing the Jews and for kissing Arafat’s wife after she complained all through lunch that the Jews were poisoning Palestinian kids.

She is a corrupt thug, who helped clinton murder hundreds of political opponents and inconvenient witnesses.

She has no more real job experience than Obama. The only real work she ever did in her life was at the Rose Law Firm, where she orchestrated Whitewater.

Hillary is not relief from Obama. If anything, she would be even worse, because she’s smarter than he is.

Actually, I could care less about Hillary Clinton as a Democrat POTUS candidate. The destruction of POTUS Barack Hussein Obama and the Democrat Party occurred, in effect, in November, 2010!!! Once the Republicans took control of the House of Representatives, the insanity of POTUS Obama/Democrat Party leadership of these United States of America, basically ceased to exist. All we have now is a contrived, “Dog & Pony” charade from the supposed leader of the free world, and his failed Democrat Party. Obama cannot lead, he will never be able to lead. He carries much hate/disgust for this nation in his evil heat and soul!!! The Democrat Party has had plenty of signs of his building and, now just about certain political failure, but...because they live & exist in a bubble of fantasy, they cannot bring themselves to dispose of him. They should have marched up to the White House and demanded his resignation last November. They did not, and...I believe the time has now passed for that action to occur!!! Sending first lady, Michelle and Jill Biden to a NASCAR event and having a country and western music charade with “has been” performers at the White House ain’t gonna cut the mustard. The political end is in sight for POTUS Obama, just as it is for most “socialist failures”, world wide. But.....along with the Obama political defeat, the current Democrat Party will also receive a devastating defeat politically, come, November, 2012. And....funny, it is a defeat authored by their own hand!!!

Hillary COULD win it all, IMHO, but can’t/won’t run for the reasons you state. They’d rather sink with Obama than float with Hillary.

At best (for US), Hillary could run third-party.

Which I’d welcome...bwhahahahaha!

I agree with you. This notion that Cankles is presidential material is just as off-kilter as the idea of Obama as presidential material in 2007-2008. The PantSuit's greatest career move was to marry a sociopathic politician.

She is just as misguided and corrupt as Obama, only more cunning and devious than he is.
