Some Massachusetts public school students have a day off this week, but it has nothing to do with power outages or snow.
The Cambridge school system is believed to be the first in Massachusetts to give all students a day off for a Muslim holiday.
Students are getting Tuesday off for Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, the Boston Globe reports.
"We’re ecstatic about this," Atif Harden, interim executive director of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center, told the newspaper. "This is the first year that it’s going to occur. This sort of recognition of our existence and the population we have, we feel very good about."
The day off was approved by the school committee last year because of the district's sizable Muslim population.

Where’s the separation of church and state crowd to protest this like they do when ever you mention Christmas Holiday or Easter Break?
What about separation of church and state issues, which liberals in Cambridge would love to lecture us about?
Officially, schools are closed for “winter break” at Christmas time, so officially, Christmas is not a school holiday. Yet these liberals are allowed to designate a Muslim holiday as a day off? How can this be?
Why are liberals ok with recognition of Islamic religious holidays, but not ok with such recognition of Jewish or Christian holidays????
And what about the whole church/state thing, liberals????
This is so inconsistent on so many levels, to recognize a Muslim holiday when we’re not allowed to recognize other religious holidays.
So, we have US schools honoring a cult that is antithetical to our Constitution. A belief which encouraged pederasty and pedophilia and “honor killings” and polygamy...... The cult should be banned, instead of glorified by our government.
This moral relativism has got to end. PC is Marxist. We need to get back to Natural Law and Absolutes which our Founders put into our Founding Documents. Laws should prevent anything so unnatural and evil as islam in our schools. We believe in God, not allah (and they are not the same. It shouldn’t even be an issue.
We need to get rid of the muslim in chief.

You have to remember that the Cambridge city council also declared the city to be a nuclear free zone, as well.

Two incompetent, angry black women who worked for him didn’t like their small pay raises. Accused him of racism. He was dropped faster than a ground ball hit to Bill Buckner. Career over in disgrace. Early retired. That he was innocent was of no importance. Cambridge survives only from continuous cash transfusions from liberal billionaires. It should be put down as a mercy.
If I recall correctly, Cambridge opened their city offices at 12:01 a.m. on the day homosexual marriage was allowed in Massachusetts. They wanted to show how liberal they are and perform the first legalized homosexual marriages.
The irony is, that if radical Muslims gain any foothold in America, that the people they would go after first are the liberals. The liberals who are the most accomodating towards Islam are considered the biggest enemies of Islam.
Unfortunately the mindset of what we are or not "allowed" to do is there because there is little out-cry against it. We are "free" to do so,... but when we no longer use our freedom to protect our heritage and the clear foundations of which our country was established, then we loose it...simple.
The silence of the American people regarding the Islamification of the USA is beyond astounding...the Muslim push continues unabated or resisted.
Because Libtards are cowards.
They know that if they attack Christians or Jews, we will walk down the road, muttering under our breath about the injustice in the world; whereas the Muzzies will kill them.
