Cain did not sign settlement, accuser's lawyer says
CBS

Posted on 11/05/2011 4:47:52 AM PDT by Dusty Road

The settlement agreement between the National Restaurant Association and a woman who accused Herman Cain of sexual harassment was reached in September 1999--and was not signed by Cain himself, according to Joel Bennett, a lawyer for the woman.

---------------------------------

Cain left the association June 30, 1999, according to the NRA. Under that timeline, Cain would have been gone when the settlement was reached--and may well have been gone when she filed the complaint

Sorry about the link, not sure why it didn’t come up right. I’m not very good at this.

If I understood correctly, my understanding from yesterday is that Cain wasn’t even AWARE of the settlement - it was directly between the (Restaurant) NRA and the woman.

Cain wasn’t even involved.

Did I understand that correctly?

This is all a charade. Politico is starting to appear to have been way, way out of line with this.

Not even fake but accurate. Just plain wrong.

Beyond Dan Rather territory.

This is not possible.

The Perry Banditos have been insisting for days that Cain admitted wrong doing over a decade ago, rather than simply having been the target of accusations as this would indicate.

So why did she leave?????

Maybe she was going to follow Cain to his next job, just like Anita Hill did to Clarence Thomas!

Nor will we ever. I'm not sure what her lawyer is up to but it looks like the wheels have come of this story. I'm no lawyer maybe one will chime in but it looks like her lawyer may have already violated the confidentiality agreement. Does he have some type of immunity in this, his signature is also on that agreement.

The source was a Romney Bought RomneyBOT.

And the core GOP will LOVE Romney for the backstabbing.

Let me see now.... A woman files suit for an alleged harassment by a man she worked with IN THE PAST. AFTER he’s left the organization—and presumably she’s had NOTHING more to do with him (and will never have to face him in the future)—she gets paid off to leave that organization????

And we wonder why US business is NOT as competitive as it once was?

This whole episode has been about as sleazy and underhanded as possible.

1. No one on the record.
2. Anonymous accusers
3. Non-specific complaint.
4. Violation of confidentiality agreement.
5. Media gave Cain a dribble then demanded a response. THen dribbled more of #3 then demanded to know why his story changed.

This was “gotcha” journalism from the first instant the story was even contemplated.

Joel Bennett enjoys a good scheme with John Podesta

THE REAL DEAL:

“Former President of National Restaurant Association has Ties to the Mitt Romney Campaign
Steven C. Anderson … took over the helm as Chief Executive Officer at the National Restaurant Association
Herman Cain's departure in 1999”

Whenever Team Romney had rumors they wanted to start about other candidates,
Jonathan Martin has been their go-to guy to get those rumors in writing in front of a national audience.

“And The Most Irresponsible Journalist Award Goes to The Politico’s Jonathan Martin!
So tell me, how do you write a “news” story about an organization paying for a speaker when you don’t even know if the organization is paying for the speaker?
Ask “journalist” Jonathan Martin. He knows all about it.
You see, Jonny wrote a piss poor story the other day about how the Iowa Family Policy Center will be paying a large speaker fee if Sarah Palin comes to Iowa to keynote the IFPC’s fall funderaiser.
The only problem is that Jonny has no sources confirming that any exorbitant fee is being charged or paid.
Jonny also got some inside info from David Kochel, who was a top aide to former (and future) presidential candidate, Mitt Romney.
Hey Dave, didn’t I just read a story about how Mitt Romney tried to buy off the Iowa Christian Alliance?
I heard you helped facilitate that little scheme. And somehow you are shocked at the thought of a well-known political figure (who very likely isn’t running for president) getting paid a speaker’s fee for (gasp) a public speaking appearance? ..
and then we’ve got Tim Albrecht quoted. He was the Iowa spokesman for Romney’s 2008 caucus campaign.”
And it always seemed like, whenever the Romney people had rumors they wanted to start about other candidates,
Jonny was their go-to guy to get those rumors in writing in front of a national audience.

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

Who benefits most from Sanford meltdown? Californian (that's right) Mitt Romney

So much for the “He left because of the complaint being filed”. The complaint was filed AFTER he left.
