By Scott Malone

Nov 3 (Reuters) - General Electric Co's Jeff Immelt worries the United States may lose ground to China in the renewable energy sector because it is not prepared to invest in solar, wind and other technologies on the same scale.

But the chief executive of the largest U.S. conglomerate said his company remains undaunted and will continue to work in the sector despite the recent bankruptcy of solar panel maker Solyndra, which has attracted intense public attention for failing despite federal loan guarantees.

"If you want to lead, you actually have to lead. You can't talk about it. You actually have to do things. And because scale is such a big deal in energy, that's why I worry a little bit about us," said Immelt, who is a top adviser to U.S. President Barack Obama on jobs and the economy.

Hey Immelt,

That’s YOUR job. Leading!

Dedicate some R&D funding to the effort instead of waiting for Government handouts.

And if it’s not feasible, move on to something usefull and profitable.

Doesn’t the hypocrite do more business in China than business in his home country?

You know; maybe Jeff’s ideas on renewables explains GE’s poor performance since Jeff took over.

Translation: I want US taxpayers to subsidize our “green energy” ventures, because I don't want to risk our shareholders’ money on pie-in-the-sky schemes.

What a whiny scumbag this guy is.

>>Actually your in business in China, too.

Yes, and he wants taxpayer money to subsidize his solar panel development...that he will probably manufacture in China when it is good enough to go to market.

I don’t know the answer to this, but how much solar and wind is actually being used to produce energy in China.

I have a feeling China only produce this crap for foreign consumption to the crazy Americans.
