Chávez Goes After Venezuela's Rich and Their Yachts
time ^ | Nov 1, 2011 | GIRISH GUPTA

Hugo Chávez announced earlier this month he'd like to expropriate much of Los Roques' private property for state tourism — including yachts like Alvarez's, which el Presidente says would be better used for ferrying visitors. "Expropriating a boat is completely absurd," says Alvarez, 39. "I don't see how they can take away something you've worked hard for and bought."

Actually, Chávez has made it look pretty easy during his 12 years in power. His socialist Bolivarian Revolution has nationalized and expropriated everything from utilities to ranches to golf courses — and with his re-election bid approaching next year, seizing a Shangri-la of the rich would help galvanize his populist base. "I've always said we should nationalize Los Roques," Chávez

“Nationalize” and “Expropriate” = Steal.

Thou Shalt Not Steal.

Karl Marx was not a Christian, and Jesus Christ was not a Marxist.

Hmmm. Guess the targets of Chavez will have to buy their vacation homes in Cuba where private ownership is now more respected (based on a parallel news story posted on FR).

Grab all you want, Hugo. In a short time, your hands will be empty, and Jesus will decide everything for you.

This seems to suggest that Chavez has already p$ssed away the spoils from the big expropriations, & now he is starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel. No doubt stoves & refrigerators will be next.

As we all know, when there is nothing left to steal, Marxism is soon dead, leaving nothing but destruction & misery in its wake.

Survival of the fittest...anyone who is rich and still living in Venezuela deserves whatever happens to them. They just aren’t smart enough to keep their money.

“Expropriating a boat is completely absurd,” says Alvarez, 39. “I don’t see how they can take away something you’ve worked hard for and bought.”

How long until a US citizen is quoted stating something like this? We have to win in 2012, and it has to be a conservative.

In the meantime one our biggest challenges is getting people to understand that the left moves in small increments until they acheive their goals. It’s a slight tax increase here, a new surcharge there, a sin tax, etc. Over time, your earnings, your wealth, your rights, your very freedom erode.

"I don't see how they can take away something you've worked hard for and bought."

Au contraire, that's the official platform of the U.S. Democrat Party, and most socialist parties worldwide.

everything that gets nationalized down there breaks down. Everything the government takes over becomes less productive.

He’ll never learn.

Wall Street “fat cats,” millionaires and billionaires. This is where it’s headed.

Hope he doesn’t have an accident and sink it collecting insurance before it’s nationalized. That would be a crying shame.

It is almost a shame that Chavez will die before outraged citizens give him the Mussolini/Khadaffy treatment. His last sensations before entering Hell should be terror and pain.
