Young Americans For Freedom Expel Ron Paul
Red State ^ | Feb 2011

Posted on 11/01/2011 7:37:27 PM PDT by mnehring

“Rep. Paul's refusal to support our nation’s military and national security interests border on treason"

In a statement evocative of William F. Buckley, Jr. when he excoriated Robert Welch and the John Birch Society as being “far removed from reality and common sense”, the Young Americans for Freedom, a conservative/libertarian youth group founded in 1960, has given Ron Paul (Crank – TX) the boot from its board of directors.

“Rep. Paul has strayed to the left of Obama and allied himself with the radical anti-war left by laying the blame on America for the unprovoked attacks of Sept. 11th. Additionally, Rep. Paul has not condemned the 9/11 “Truther” conspiracy theorists that support him, and he has repeatedly insisted, that the United States not bring justice to those who have murdered thousands of our civilians and soldiers at home and abroad. This is simply unacceptable. Clearly Rep. Paul cares more about a doomed presidential run than he does our country,” [YAF’s Senior National Director Jordan] Marks added.

I don’t follow groups like YAF so I am assuming the move has been a while in coming because otherwise one has to assume YAF simply hasn’t been paying attention to Ron Paul’s lunacy for the past decade. There was nothing in the mishmash of goldbuggery, conspiracy theories, and historical ignorance Paul spun in his CPAC speech to a crowd of adoring naïfs which marks it as uniquely, or even particularly, crazy by Ron Paul standards.

Regardless of what precipitated the decision by YAF it was both justified and long overdue. Ron Paul and his followers have existed as parasites on the conservative movement for much too long. The sooner they are cut loose in the way William F. Buckley, Jr., cut loose the John Birch Society the stronger our movement will be.

Yeah, but I’d love to have him as Treasury Secretary.

So he can do as much as he has done as Chairman of the Monetary Policy Committee- ie, nothing.

All talk..

I know it’s Jim’s site and he’s the boss. No argument there.

But do you really think it would improve FreeRepubic by making every member a clone, every person being a mind-numbed robot?

I’m not a Paul fan, nor a Romney-bot. It will be mighty boring around here if everyone repeats the same mantra without any discussion or alternative thoughts.

What makes FR the best conservative site on the web is the input knowledge from Conservatives at all levels.

Preaching to the choir and having everyone agreeing with each other will only spell doom for our beloved FreeRepublic. BTW, FR has been my homepage for 10 years.

Just my opinion.

Yeah, well they said the same thing when we tossed Rudy Giuliani out on his backside. But we still managed to have quite a bit of excitement around here these last three or four years.

No RINOs. No ROMNEY!!

No abortionists!! No gay rights pushers!! No gun grabbers!! No global warming alarmists!! No mandate lovers!! No big government socialist healthcare pimps!!

No thank you.

We’ll have plenty of excitement arguing among ourselves about which conservative (automatically rules out Romney) is best for the presidency, which tax cut/simplification plan is the best, which federal departments and programs should be the highest priority to get the ax, how do we secure our borders, secure our nation, restore our constitution, how do we repeal ObamaRomneyCare, how do we neuter Dodd-Frank, how do we shutter the EPA, how do we get back to drilling, mining, logging, manufacturing, etc, etc, etc, how do we get big government off our backs and out of our faces and how do we set our people free to work, produce, prosper and freely and openly worship our Lord!! No RINO can do any of the above. And, sorry, but Governor Romney is the worst of the lot!!

A simple Google search shows you pimping Rudy Giuliani all over this site over the years. I really don't think you're in any position to judge who belongs on here.

Old news. They did this a long time ago. Are they regurgitating the the ban again? For what, to rehash it for a 4th tier candidate? Is it relevant? You need to get past Paul. He is not a threat to become President. So, your anxiety dedicated to him, is beyond irrational.

What say you we focus on Cain, Perry, and Romney? Or, does your obsession with Paul, prevent you from engaging reality?

I am not criticizing here, but it has always amazed me that JimRob has not zotted every stinking Paulbot off this site. They are NOT conservatives. Period.

I love their newest tactic. If you criticize “Dr. Paul” (for being the moron that he is) you must be a Romney supporter!! Like this is a two horse race between Paul and Romney! (The Paulbots must be the “1%ers” since 99% of consevatives wouldn’t vote for him if he was running unopposed). If it somehow actually came down to Paul vs. Romney I would NOT vote. I would choose neither liberal.

JimRob, please send the Paul supporters back to where they came from. (TheHuffingtonPost).

Ron Paul politics aside, no one seems to want to touch the question-

What authority gives the US the legitimate right to 'maintain stability' in another country?

I would also like to see an answer to this question. I’ve had some interesting conversations lately with some my friends that are Ron Paul supporters. They do raise some very valid points. What is especially interesting to me about Paul supporters is that they come from both ends of the political spectrum.

"..Paul supporters is that they come from both ends of the political spectrum."

The political spectrum is not as linear as you have presumed.

While meeting with some Paul supporters, I was somewhat taken aback by the very strong libertarian bent of a few of them.

As a solid conservative, I am a supporter of Ron Paul, and was a supporter of his in the runup to the 2008 election as well.

What is interesting to me is the fact that so many establishment Republicans are willing to nominate any ol' RINO, as long as he has "T.V. hair".

I think this next election will be a watershed election either way. If the Republican nominee is a RINO, then Obama and the dems win. If the Republicans nominate a conservative we will win.

Yes, I do plan to attend my caucus, and have every intention of attempting to persuade my caucus to vote for Ron Paul.
