Official: 13 U.S. Troops Killed In Afghan Bombing

KABUL, Afghanistan (CNN) -- At least 13 U.S. troops were killed in Kabul on Saturday when a suicide bomber struck a vehicle in a military convoy, a U.S. military official said. The official emphasized these are first reports of the incident and details are continuing to unfold.

The attack severely damaged one of its vehicles, NATO's International Security Assistance Force said in a statement.

There were Afghan and international casualties, but the exact numbers are unavailable, said Master Sgt. Christopher DeWitt, a spokesman for ISAF.

Hasmat Stanikzai, spokesman for Kabul's police chief, said two students, a civilian on a motorbike and a police officer were killed.

A Taliban spokesman confirmed the attack in a text message, saying it killed "16 foreign soldiers, one civilian" and injured many others. Taliban casualty counts are often inflated; there was no other reliable indication 16 foreigners were killed.

The attack was one of two targeting NATO-led forces that day. A gunman wearing an Afghan army uniform turned his weapon on coalition forces during training, killing two, DeWitt said.

So, Hillary, you still want to talk to the Taliban? Think they can be trusted?

Well, I'm glad we're having back channel negotiations with The Taliban. They seem like a reasonable sort.

“Think they can be trusted?”

This is BS. Our enemies know that our troops are helpless against them as long as our muslim, pos, poser, potus runs this country

God’s speed our young heros! Prayer up for the families and friends.

As I travel a lot, I always find a soldier taking the tine to get something to eat at some airport restaurant. I find out who the server is and request their tab be put on mine. The good news is that this is beginning to be a common event as most servers know beforehand what I am doing.

I never get to know their names and maybe the better because it would hurt more than it already does to hear of another one of our nations best and bravest are no longer with us.

Rules of engagement, or in reality un-engagement, are the biggest threat to their lives. Open those up and we open up the end to this ridiculous campaign with a total victory and not another PR blunder like VietNam by snatching defeat from the jaw of victory.

God bless the souls of these heroes and may those responsible for their deaths rot in hell. Burn in hell. May God give comfort to the families of these who fight and die for our freedoms while we try and NEGOTIATE with the enemy. God help us all and I am sick over this news.

Echoing cubreporter: “God bless the souls of these heroes and may those responsible for their deaths ROT in hell. Burn in hell. May God give comfort to the families of these who fight and die for our freedoms while we try and NEGOTIATE with the enemy.” God strengthen our resolve to defeat the enemies of our Republic, abroad and here in the US.

AMEN.

‘...their tab be put on mine....’

God bless you. Any way to show these wonderful men and women that they are appreciated, respected and treasured is a very good thing.

Please, no praises to me. I just tell my tale hoping that others may emulate it. As one who served during the VietNam years, I’ll do my level best to make sure these magnificent kids (said with affection as though they were my own) are never, ever, not shown the appreciation we never did and quite frankly never expect to because time cannot be rewound. With no regrets, we did our service and took pride in ourselves and I know these kids do it as well.

Prayers for them.

That whole area should have been a parking lot a week after 9/11. Instead, we have lost thousands of American loved ones.

Leon Panetta is tha angel of death where ever he goes. When he was at CIA, 7 agents get killed at once, a “record” day for the agency. Now that he is at DoD, todays toll is the high mark to date in his short tenure. It is long past time to retire this nit-whit.

I am so glad that George W. Bush has decided to have Americans die so that the Muslims in Afghanistan can have a democracy.

Why didn’t Bush’s daughters serve in the military?

The quick Obama pulls our troops out of Afghanistan the better.

Let them fight for their own damn freedom. Karzai is the biggest crook ever.

Why can’t we admit that Obama and George W. Bush were both bad presidents.

Actually, most Americans (probably most conservatives too) agree. It’s just Obama is SO bad, and so venal, Bush is an angel in comparison.

I predicted years ago that the U.S. military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan would end up being futile disasters. I took a lot of sh!t right here on this site for it, but I stayed the course.

We basically have the U.S. government using the military to install and prop up governments in which Islam is established as the official state religion and shariah law is the governing legal structure.

Sometimes I really hate being right.

Yes, and just a few years ago, anyone who dared criticize the RINO George W. Bush was instantly ostracized.

Bush has recently said that his biggest disappointment during his 8 year term was not getting amnesty for illegals.

Oh but how they loved GWB here at FR.
