Mitt Romney can't catch a break. First George Will dumps on him, and now it looks like Google's search engine isn't a big fan. The folks at Slate's Browbeat blog have noticed that when users type the phrase "Romney can win" into the search bar, they get this suggestion: "Did you mean: Romney can't win" Romney is the only candidate who gets the treatment, though this appears to be an innocent quirk of the algorithms and not some sinister Google bomb. Of course, it's nothing compared to Rick Santorum's Google troubles.
HOPE!!
(go Cain go)
It seems to indicate that there is a whole lot of “Mitt can’t win” buzz on the internet, more than for any other GOP hopeful. Searching for the phrase itself and getting a hit count might reveal more. The correction algorithm seems to look for close alternatives to what you entered that would bring up many more results. This could further break down into categories like “Mitt can’t win [name of primary state],” “Mitt can’t win the primaries” and “Mitt can’t win against Obama.”
When Sarah Palin dropped out, one of the most intriguing prophetic measures — T shirt sales — came to naught. Before this, the presidential candidate who sold the most T shirts went on to win, in at least the last 20 or so years. Sarah Palin was singlehandedly keeping T shirt businesses afloat.
I don’t get that. Maybe they fixed it.
Don’t care for Romney, but it’s obvious the libtards at Google did this on purpose.
It’s not Google’s fault this time. They are just indexing the millions of “Mitt Romney can’t win.” replies on FreeRepublic.
Just to see if it would get a rise out of Mitt boosters?
The elites like Slick Willard. No one else does.
It sucks to be listed on Google.
BAIT, for the small crowd who stupidly states:
“Romney isn’t as bad as Obama, you people need to get real.”
FOTFL.
Even these elites have got to be worrying now about the flip flops. Mitt has had many months to converge on a policy, and on paper he was even looking better than Perry. But the dice keep rolling in Mitt’s brain. What Mitt promises these elites has a half life of what? It looks like days in some cases.
Whether Romney is better or worse than Obama is not even yes or no; it’s a probability cloud. And the fog factor isn’t from the Obama side of the comparison.
Enemies within are always worse. They’re traitors.
A supporter who unexpectedly won’t support you is a bigger kick in the head than a frank enemy.
Imperative that we elect a bullet proof US Senate, because SCOTUS seats are bound to be vacant during the next president’s term.
If it’s the Marxist or Romney, we have to be able to stop liberals and Marxist appointments to SCOTUS and to the Federal benches.
Pray non stop that this SCOTUS overturns obamacare.
That’s the big issue. Once that’s overturned, then the Marxist’s reelection won’t hurt all that much, if his opponent is Romney.
I refuse to vote for Romney or even entertain that notion for one second.
And thence is the catch-22, because if the GOP candidate is a flip-floppy Mitt, people who might have cast their vote for new GOP senators will be inspired to stay home. Small time political activists such as FR’s Jim that have stated a philosophical objection to Mitt early on are not even going to be the major reason for such a sit-out.
I am hopeful about Cain gaining and keeping a big enough advantage that even the Romneyphile GOP elites cannot maneuver him out of the nomination, but there are many months of possible slip between the cup and the lip.
One thing that has (surprisingly or not) escaped Mitt’s waffle iron is his promise to do a 50 state exemption to Obamacare. Now who knows, maybe he’ll feel a sudden need to write Romneycare large and welsh on that. But at least we’re not seeing a variety of contradictory statements about it. Not yet.
Jim hasn’t dampened our enthusiasm, if that’s what you mean? We will take action as always.
This primary season always sucks all the oxygen, but when the US Senate campaigns get underway, you watch us swing into grassroots action in every state and district across this USA.
Stay home? Not on your life or mine!
The depressed vote will be on the Marxist’s side of the aisle or ticket. He’s going to need all the fraud and union thuggery he can buy and steal.
I still don’t think the nominee is going to be Romney. The media hope so, but those paid idiots only get one vote each, and if we nominate Herman Cain, you watch the GOP turn out! Same goes for any of our conservative candidates, but Herman Cain would cause an awakening like no other.
A “Who’s you’re Daddy?” and “Come to Jesus” election.
A fraudulent Kenyan versus a true American black man. WOW.
I can’t keep up with Romney’s statements or promises. The other day in Ohio he didn’t back Governor John Kasich against the public employee unions.
A day later, (when he was safely out of Ohio) he issues another statement, saying he was misquoted or something like that.
Give us a break.
He’s a liar and a pandering weasel.
I’m tired and have to get some sleep.
Good night!
It’s hard to tell Mitt’s dodges from seriously intended changes in policy.
