Redistribution The GOP Way: Rich From Poor (Colossal Barf Alert!!!)
IBD Editorials ^ | October 28, 2011 | Left-wing lunatic EUGENE ROBINSON

Posted on 10/28/2011 7:05:02 PM PDT by Kaslin

The hard-right conservatives who dominate the Republican Party claim to despise the redistribution of wealth, but secretly they love it — as long as the process involves depriving the poor and middle class to benefit the rich, not the other way around.

That is precisely what has been happening, as a jaw-dropping new report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office demonstrates. Three decades of trickle-down economic theory, see-no-evil deregulation and tax-cutting fervor have led to massive redistribution. Another word for what's been happening might be theft.

The gist of the CBO study, titled "Trends in the Distribution of Household Income Between 1979 and 2007," is that while we've become wealthier overall, these new riches have largely bypassed many Americans and instead flowed mostly to the affluent.

Perhaps my memory is faulty, but I don't remember voting to turn the United States into a nation starkly divided between haves and have-nots. Yet that's where we've been led.

A Nation Divided?

Overall, in inflation-adjusted dollars, average after-tax household income grew by 62% during the period under study, according to the CBO. This sounds great — but only until you look a little closer.

For those at the bottom — the one-fifth of households with the lowest incomes — the increase was just 18%. For the middle three-fifths, the average increase was 40%. Spread over nearly 30 years, these gains are modest, not meteoric.

Riddle me this, Eugene. If they’re poor and have no money, how do the rich get rich taking from them?

You don't? Let me refresh your memory, Gene. Remember when you registered to vote, and you checked the "Democrat" box? Then.

i’ve always like the redistribution of wealth...

1. a rich guy needs something done or created...
2. i agree to do it for a fee...
3. he agrees...
4. i perform the work...
5. he redistributes his wealth.

the problem with the tards in the streets is...

step 4

they want the redistribution without all that work stuff

Thank you Lurker! What do the poor have that the rich WANT? Let alone are “stealing” from them? What would Eugene say?

That's one thing that the lib media always glosses over when covering the "protests". If they really wanted jobs, then they'd be calling for what the tea party calls for, namely deregulation (of the kind that incurs costs of $10K and up a year per new employee, and hundreds of thousands to millions per year to comply with all sorts of other regulations and several regulatory agencies, never mind the cost in paperwork) and lower corporate taxation (when the USA's federal corporate tax alone is higher than Red China's, then something is just seriously, seriously wrong).

The OWS people have got to be the biggest "useful idiots" in the planet's history. If they ever get communism, they'll be forced to work, because that will be their duty according to a communist constitution. They will also be subject to forced migration at the will of the central planners, and they won't be allowed to leave their property to their offspring because the state owns it. They don't like our volunteer military?—whoops, because mandatory military service is also the duty of all citizens in a communist state.

We have the richest “poor” in the world. Eugene wants all to be equal at the bottom. Except himself and his friends of course.

Just when you think Eugene Robinson cannot get any dumber, he surpasses himself. He is genuinely one of, if not the stupidest people writing columns today.

If they ever get communism, they’ll be forced to work, in the fields growing their food, like in Cambodia, where most starved because food doesn’t grow that fast.

So many villages without their idiots.

Minimum wage laws where designed to keep the have nots as have nots on the government dole plantation where they could be easily controlled. Minimum wage if adjusted for inflation would be between 25 and 30 dollars an hour. All a part of the progressive agenda.

If Americans were to realize they are about to be the victims of progressive-style redistribution of all value to those self anointed elites and enslavement for the rest of us, they would be in the street hanging as many progressives as they could find.

“The hard-right conservatives who dominate the Republican Party”

Gene, you being a hard left progressive know that is incorrect. The Republican party is controlled by progressives commonly known as rinos which the tea party is trying to flush out.

Yes, and Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams should beat it out of him. The people in these various income categories are NOT the same folks over time. Government interference in the economy does not punish rich people; it punishes those trying to become rich.
