Woodruff Park remained quiet and empty early Wednesday morning after Atlanta police reclaimed the park, arresting 53 protesters after multiple warnings.
...Deputy Atlanta Police Chief Calvin Moss announced at 11:52 p.m. that the executive order allowing protesters to stay in the park has been revoked. Protesters were told to leave the park and any belongings left behind would be treated as abandoned property.
...Officers swarmed the park around 12:45 a.m. The arrests were orderly and peaceful, though some of the protesters had to dragged out.
...Police on motorcycles and horseback circled the perimeter as officers went from tent to tent with flashlights, urging people to leave before a second warning was issued.
...Among those handcuffed were State Sen. Vincent Fort (D-Atlanta), former Atlanta city councilman Derrick Boazman and Joe Beasley, the southern regional director of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.

Video of arrests:
Long overdue on other charges no doubt! ;-)
Is this the real reason the Mayor decided to run the “occupy” protesters out?
...because he had previously put restrictions on rally requests from the Tea Party?

Debbie Dooley of Atlanta Tea Party Patriots says her group has sent this e-mail to Mayor Kasim Reed:
We have noticed that the City of Atlanta has waived many of your ordinances, fees, etc., in regard to the Occupy Atlanta protests. We have called in the past to find out information for events on City of Atlanta venues like Woodruff Park and have been told it would require a permit and fees and there were restrictions.
In the future, Atlanta Tea Party expects to receive the same benefits or waiving of fees, permits, restrictions that you have accorded the Occupy Atlanta protests. If we dont, we will seek legal action. Thank you for your attention in this.
Dooley says the tea party have received no reply.

All these people, and elsewhere, will be arrested, booked and charged, and will be issued summonses to appear in court.
All the charges will be thrown out. What a huge waste of time and resources.
The OWS organizers are not stupid. They know if they can cause the city use up its police overtime budget, they can hurt the city’s pocketbook for the rest of the fiscal year.
I would not be surprised if this “occupation” movement continues on through 2012 with increased violence, with perhaps the mission of creating an enviroment where Obama has to declare a suspension of the elections and enacting indefinite martial law. All so he can retain the WH.
I can’t find it in writing, but according to the radio this morning someone showed up at the park yesterday and was carrying around his loaded AK-47. The gun owner was not breaking the law and was not arrested, but that pushed the Mayor over the top and he ordered the park cleared.
[Mayor] Reed told reporters he had serious security concerns. They were heightened Tuesday when a man was seen in the park with an AK-47 assault rifle, the mayor said. He said authorities could not determine whether the weapon was loaded, and were unable to get additional information about it.
did, not didn.
I felt sorry for the cops having to carry these loons to the paddy wagon. Me I’d use a cattle prod to move them in the right direction.
“I cant find it in writing, but according to the radio this morning someone showed up at the park yesterday and was carrying around his loaded AK-47”
Actually, there was video of this man on the news last night(although I can’t remember what station ).
“Debbie Dooley of Atlanta Tea Party Patriots says her group has sent this e-mail to Mayor Kasim Reed:”
I believe it was Julianne Thompson that was interviewed on TV(WSB, I think) last night. And, when Reed was questioned about letting the TeaParty have the benefit of a group gathering without permits, “facilities”, etc—he said he would handle it on a case by case basis. Kasim seems to be a biased little bastard, ‘cause you know he would NEVER let a conservative group get away with this crap.
Let me tell you a little story about a certain Mayor in a southern city. Before he became Mayor he had a girlfriend who lived in a condo in an upscale neighborhood. The mayor, who was I believe a councilman at the time (let's call him K) would frequently visit her at all hours and park wherever he wanted, a practice that locals are used to among their elected officials. One or twice the condo towed Ks car because he was parked in someone elses spot. He yelled and sputtered and swore vengeance.
Soon after K was elected Mayor the condo was due for its annual inspection by the Fire Marshall. They should have given the Fire Marshall a room because he lived there for six months. He inspected every sprinkler head with a magnifying glass and looked inside every junction box. Every fire alarm strobe in the 200+ unit tower had to flash in perfect synchronicity in accordance with the strictest interpretation of the national, state and local codes. Compliance cost the condos tens of thousands of dollars and their staff hundreds of hours. The building next door, which is the same age and condition, completed their annual inspection in 45 minutes.
Just a little story about coincidences.

He’s not so little.
