Conventional wisdom has it that the 2012 presidential election will be all about the dismal economy, unemployment and the soaring deficit. That appears a safe bet because such matters touch the electorate, are much in the news at the moment and have indisputably become worse on Barack Obama's watch.
It seems increasingly likely, however, that the American people will have a whole lot more to worry about by next fall. Indeed, the way things are going, by November 2012, we may see the Middle East - and perhaps other parts of the planet - plunged into a cataclysmic war.
Consider just a few of the straws in the wind of a gathering storm:
-Moammar Gadhafi's death last week prompted the Obama administration to trumpet the president's competence as commander in chief and the superiority of his "small footprint," "lead-from-behind" approach to waging war over the more traditional - and costly and messy - one pursued by George W. Bush. The bloom came off that false rose on Sunday when Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, chairman of National Transitional Council, repeatedly declared his government's fealty to Shariah, Islam's brutally repressive, totalitarian political-military-legal doctrine.
Among other things, Mr. Abdul-Jalil said Shariah would be the "basic source" of all legislation. Translation: Forget about representative democracy. Under Shariah, Allah - not man - makes the laws.
In short, the result of Mr. Obama's $2 billion expenditure to oust Gadhafi is a regime that will be led by jihadists, controls vast oil reserves and has inherited a very substantial arsenal (although some of it - including reportedly as many as 20,000 surface-to-air missiles - has "gone missing"). This scarcely can be considered a victory for the United States and probably will prove a grave liability.
.. -In Egypt, meanwhile, the agenda of the Islamists' mother ship

The reigns will be handed over to sanity in 2012 and we will have to hopfully cleanup after the children who made a mess
To refine the analogy, its not like the parents come home in Jan 2013 to a mess, but rather they come home to a massive smoldering pile of rubble where the house used to be, with broken pipes spewing water, a broken gas main spewing natural gas, and the oil tank leaking into the ground.
just a moslem president helping out the moslem insurgency world wide.

Crony capitalism open the US to an explosive era. Obama only represents the left’s version of forced retreat of US power, and any one who succeeds him will have a similar version but with conservative embellishments. Why? When the US Treasury, Fed Reserve, Wall Street Banks, Freddie Fannie, Congress/Lobbyists blow up the US financial system, hard to fight wars when you are in deep debt. Only rational option is fall back from the world and rebuild. Obama is only the first of many US POTUS to follow who will be forced by financial reality to pull US forces back. Neocon freepers don’t like this, blame crony capitalism for the financial limits.
I believe that this is spot on!! zero has shown the world that the US is weak and won’t stop this stuff. The Muslim Brotherhood is control of Egypt and they are probably pulling the strings in Libya and elsewhere in the ME.
And, what is the Muslim Brotherhood’s primary goal?? The destruction of Israel. I’m pretty sure that the Israelis will give these freaks a good fight but, without our help, they may well be doomed. Bibi Netanyahu knows this as surely as I’m typing it, but Odumbo doesn’t.
With the economic collapse of Greece (likely coming soon) taking down most of Europe and, possibly, the US as well, things don’t look too good for the forseeable future.
And, yes, Odumbo is a MAJOR part of what is coming because he is so incompetent, so dedicated to his communist ideals and so committed to the destruction of America.
Obama’s pullbacks are symbolic, make very few dents in defense expenditures, and are calculated to hurt America the worst. Obama is not stupid, he’s evil.
We need to ram into the brain of whoever is elected in 2012 that the only legitimate use of American power is to defend the U.S. No more Wilsonian liberal fascism. No more nation-building.
It gets tiring after a while, cleaning up after the brats make a mess. Make THEM clean it up.
I agree, let other countries fend for themselves. We need our money in our coffers, our troops on our land, and we need the brainpower in OUR country. Before we started getting involved in stuff like Vietnam and other countries, we were an entirely successful country and we were doing almost perfectly. If we had dealt with Civil Rights and avoided Vietnam, quite frankly we would have an entire generation alive (probably conservative) and we would have more money and a must vaster military. We lost anyway and frankly no more wars that our troops are not ready for.
