It’s not so much a case as a feeling.

The Program ALREADY exists. Bubba Clinton put it in effect.

Actually you are in error as these zones were thought of in late 1970's by former New York State congressmen Jack Kemp and Robert Garcia. According to the understanding I have these Opportunity Zones aka OZ were never realized as the red tape and federal interference took the bite out of making these ideas a success.

Cain just wants to expand yet another so so Gov program. Does he REALLY think Blacks enjoy ghettos at below minimum wage?

However the inner cites end up being revitalized it is a good thing on the face of it. And since the devil is in the details I cannot understand your opposition to this basically good idea.
Are you against these OZs because they are government ideas? Or is there another reason you are against this idea?

When you obtain something more than a feeling please let me know. Concrete information is always welcome

Okay, okay.

Blacks are Americans, no doubt about it. But Mexicans are Americans also, at least the legal ones are.

And they are constantly trashed on this forum, which people would never dare do to blacks, nor should they.

I just feel that a man who’s spent much of his life in a black church which is openly and strongly in favor of affirmative action and special rights cannot be immune to that sentiment.

If he was as opposed to that sentiment as he claims, how could he tolerate it being preached every Sunday while he sits in the amen corner?

I first started wondering about this when he responded to the Rock question on Meet the Press. Many people here defend him by saying he simply answered a question he was asked.

He over-reacted to a disquieting degree. If he was familiar with the article, he should have instantly seen it was a bogus smear. If he was not familiar with it, he should have said so.

Instead he chose to accuse Perry of racism ... maybe not flat out, but badly enough that I began to wonder about him at that point.

So, my feeling is that Mr. Cain would be way to vulnerable to the demands of his friends in the black community for special privileges for this minority group.

I may be wrong, but I’m not gonna take the chance unless I have to.

By that I mean, I will vote for the Republican nominee whoever it turns out to be but if it’s not Perry or Newt, the vote will be against Obama.

I think you are assigning to much weight to an issue, like this 'Rock' thing that is a passing phenomenon. You should remember that Cain has fought his way through life, against some pretty long odds. And he fought cancer and bested it. At least for now. As he says: This long shot now has a shot

The real deal is that adversity like faced by Cain can develop the true character of a man. And I think he is the man to beat Obama and the left because he brings certain qualities to the battle that they, the Obama team will have a hard time overcoming. This is my observation.

Hey lonestar.... I first registered on FR on July 2,1998...just a few days before you.

Yes, it is very discouraging but I hope eventually the tide will turn and that others will see the strongest conservative candidate is Rick Perry.

His ‘Cut, Balance and Grow’ Plan is a winner, according to Rush & Mark Levin!

Keep on keeping on.....it's an endurance race!

You and I think a lot alike. I really liked Cain until the rock incident. His response reminded me of BO's "cops acting stupidly" before he had even one detail about what it was about...and played the race card against Perry.

He says one thing one day and explains what he meant the next. The MSM would be eating a White man alive.
