What if Steve Jobs had grown up in Syria? What if Steve Jobs had grown up in Obama’s America?

Misleading title. Jobs didn’t say he “hated” him. He just didn’t want to meet him and call him “dad”. If my parents had abandoned me, I wouldn’t want to meet tham either.

He (Jobs) also criticised the country's education system and said it was 'crippled by union work rules. 'Until the teachers; unions were broken, there was almost no hope for eduction reform.' He told Obama that principals should be allowed to hire and fire teachers based on merit, that schools stay open until 6pm and that they be open 11 months a year.
He was right on education....

My family and I just happened to be switching channels when we saw the beginning of this story and watched the entire segment. I have to say it was very well done and they shared some of Steve Jobs life which shed some new light on a brilliant man. It is sad that he is gone. I commend Steve for not letting money run his life and taking a stand regarding his father.
Steve Jobs vision will allow my son to live a better quality of life, and for this I thank him.

taking a stand regarding his father.I thought his parents weren't married and his mother wanted to adopt him...the father had little to say. Back then the fathers had no rights.

Yes, values, Ten Commandments.. wouldn;t be a bad idea to remind Good Americans it's not cool to be rebellious against our parents.
But I wonder, what is it, he had heard about his father that mdae him so hateful?

From yesterday's CBS 60 Min. interview with Jobs' biographer, the obvious was stated that he did not like anything he had heard about his father and never wanted to meet him.

I saw it. He didn’t say he “hated” his father. Obviously he didn’t like him, but Jobs didn’t seem to like anybody, and he probably figured his long-lost father would hit him up for money. In his circumstances, I wouldn’t want to meet the bastard either.
