The reeling housing market has come to this: To shore it up, two Senators are preparing to introduce a bipartisan bill Thursday that would give residence visas to foreigners who spend at least $500,000 to buy houses in the U.S.

The provision is part of a larger package of immigration measures, co-authored by Sens. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Mike Lee, R-Utah, designed to spur more foreign investment in the U.S.

I assume AFTER they’ve bought the house - we give ‘em free citizenship... And our daughters? Is that next?

Let me guess . . . . comprehensive immigration reform?

Seems dangerous. Drug cartels, terrorist groups, etc., this would be a way to “legitimize” their people here. Am I the only one thinking this way?

The home in Sarasota visited by two of the 9/11 killers was an Arab (Saudi) owned $500k model in a gated community. The gate cameras caught them coming and going. The home was abandoned before the attack with food in the refrigerator, the table and clothing in the closets. Five-hundred grand ain’t nuthin’ when it comes to setting up a terrorist attack.

We don’t need to sell homes this badly. Why are our elected leaders trying to micro-manage the economy? They need to set up the parameters for success and stand back; low taxes, low energy costs and low social welfare expectations. We’ll take care of buying the pricy homes.

If you’re a state-sponsored terrorist, you’ve got to love it.

NYS hired over 50,000 people after a hiring freeze was instituted in 2008. Meanwhile, the state will be losing 2 House seats because of depopulation. Pols gotta get bodies from somewhere since they’ve made it too difficult for citizens to live here.

I want a Dutch Auction of 100,000 American Citizenships each year.

Proceeds to be applied to reduce everyone’s Marginal Income Tax Rates across the board.

No! I thought the same thing - they’ll have full (actually ‘super’) rights if they get caught doing anything.

The bill is a POS, big time!

ANYTHING to keep the housing bubble inflated, that’s what they will do. Sell the country off as long as NAHB, NAR, and the MBA get their cut.

>>>>We are giving them the rope to hang ourselves with

That is the same exact statement that was made by the Bolshevik communist leader, Vladmir Lenin. He said that “the capitalists will sell us the rope, which we shall use to hang them”.

Since the commies went out of business in 1991 (at least in Russia), the hangmen of the American people will be Muslim extremists. Some of the money that may be used to buy American houses, is money from American taxpayers, that was given to Islamic nations.

Cool. Rich foreigners coming here to buy cheap houses and rich Americans going abroad to buy homes and shelter wealth and income. Maybe we should have an exchange program.

IMHO...

MIKE LEE WAKE UP.

You are one of the guys DeMint supported.

ANY Congressman who does anything with Schumer is to be targeted for removal by people who puke in their mouth a little every time the see, hear or think about Schumer.

Doing business with Schumer is like doing business with Al Capone. He’s fine on national defense when we’re actually attacked, but two weeks later he’s playing politics again. And on everything else, he’s just all about building his political machine and staying in power, enriching him and his friends, spewing leftist rhetoric and doing all this for the rest of his life. The quintessential slimeball.

IT AIN’T GONNA WASH with true conservatives, Tea Party and real Americans with at least half a brain.

WE DO NOT WANT EVEN MORE FOREIGNERS HERE, WITH MONEY, WITHOUT MONEY, WITH SKILLS, WITHOUT SKILLS - AMERICA DOES NOT NEED MORE PEOPLE. We have 300 million last time we counted. If amongst all those people - with maybe 25 million of them unemployed, mind you - we can’t find somebody to handle each thing that needs to be done here then heaven help us because we’re morons.

If someone is to get rich on Real Estate - IT BETTER BE AN AMERICAN CITIZEN.

If not, we are doing completely boneheaded mush-for-brains idiotic moves.

FORGET ABOUT TRYING TO BE A POLITICAL “GENIUS” and being able to sign a bill with a left-winger that both you and he can go brag about to your respective constituencies about and brag about being “bi-partisan”.

WE ARE NOT IMPRESSED BY THAT. WE ARE DISGUSTED BY THAT.

If a bi-partisan vote successfully implements a left-wing solution that winds up in financial disaster - is it good because it was bi-partisan ?

Is stubborn partisanship that prevents failure better or worse than bi-partisan failure ?

The “””””””” real-estate “”””””” “”””””crisis””””””””” (i.e., governmental manipulation of banks which has succeeded in destroying the banking system) will disappear almost immediately.....

when......

government departments are dismantled and gone and all their regulations are gone.

Because at that time... we’ll have jobs coming out of our ears and everybody will be flush with cash again.

Get with the program Mike.

IMHO.

I can’t believe Mike Lee joined with Schumer on this idiotic plan. Up until now, I thought Mike Lee was a Tea Party guy. Guess DC has sucked the sense out of another Republican.

Pretty sad. We’re becoming a third-world country where rich foreigners go to buy beach homes.

For people worried about these people living here - worry no more. We have a number of wealthy Brits who have bought in my area, and they are never here. I guess they improve the local economy by hiring house sitters or paying for security services, but it sure kills a neighborhood, even a wealthy one, to have rich absentee owners occupying the real estate.

Of course, that’s true even in the case of absentee American owners. Some historic places with prestige addresses are being destroyed by people buying huge downtown places for use once or twice a year. I’m not sure what one can do about it, in the long run, but I don’t like the idea of making a pitch to get foreigners or non-residents to buy our real estate.

From the makers of Fast and Furious comes… (drum roll please)

Casas para Cartels

Gee, now what foreign entity would like a nice ($500K+) villa in Miami??? Bwarnee Fwank is probably salivating over the possibilities, NINJA loans for terrorist. Apparently Shooomer and Biden drink at the same fountain. Give me a break. Tort Reform and Term Limits, please. Introducing legislation like this should come with sever penalties, what a damn waste. So they get to buy a $500K home that Bwarny has devalued to $250K and spend the other $250K on "rental investments" to rip off and write off.

Take your legislaughter and shove it up your a$$ Shooooomer!!!
